The Cloister Room 046 - For The Win!
The Cloister RoomA new series of Doctor Who is upon us, so—oh, wait, it’s not a new season, it’s just... more of the previous season? I guess? So, Tom and Louis discuss the first—d’oh, I mean sixth, or maybe seventh, I dunno—episode of the current series and discuss their thoughts on the series’ current direction, while speculating pointlessly about what will happen next. Plus, the 50th anniversary casting bombshell is discussed, Louis wonders about River’s history with the Tenth Doctor, and Tom misremembers the ending of The Web of Fear. Where else can you get such scintillating discussion about Doctor Who? Possibly somewhere, I guess, if you look around, but there is no need to look around because a new episode of THE CLOISTER ROOM is right before your eyes! And ears.

Episode 174: No More Petes, Just Howard
Trust Your DoctorEverybody loves Howard, the new show from the BBC.
As it turns out, the best day to invade Earth is Christmas Day, 2006, when it just so happened the Doctor was totally out of commission. If the Sycorax had just showed up like 4 hours earlier they probably would have totally succeeded. It’s The Christmas Invasion, written by Russell T. Davies, and aired on December 25, 2005.
Show-notes:
10:06 Might as well link this again.
11:25 They’re actually called Roboforms and the Doctor says they behave like pilot fish.
12:40 Yeah, dogs can get hairballs. So wolves probably can too.
14:51 Apparently some people take shark cartilage as a supplement.
19:02 Whiplash from Iron Man 2. He’s not original to the movie obviously. He was created for comics.
22:42 I honestly don’t know if I believe this site or not, but according to it about 34% of people have A+ blood. That means A+ is the second most common blood type after O+. No idea about the royal family, but I did find out they’re Rh negative, which means they don’t have the Rh factor, whatever that is.
26:48 Yeah I am just making that up.
40:23 Controls emotions.
40:55 Immortal jellyfish, aka turritopsis dohrnii. This thing is creepy.
47:34 In regards to sexism in politics, the first episode of Revisionist History does a good job of summing it up. Here’s a Huffington Post article about it.
49:12 Song for 10. I think this is the version heard in this episode.
52:58 Thanks Radio Times.

You and Who Talking 029
The Doctor Who ShowWhat you are about to hear is the story of a connection, a connection that was made between a television series and a viewer's life.
The You and Who books are the story of that connection, as told by the people who watch the programmes that make us come alive. Chiefly, of course, Doctor Who.
This podcast will relate some of the stories from those books... and beyond.

Metebelis 2 #59 - Men of a Certain Age
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2When Saturday comes, it's a new Doctor Who. But the trailers are worryingly monster-free. Even though the story seems to be set on Pluto (at that time young Ben's favourite planet), how could a story succeed with no monsters? And with that annoying robot dog too. It was with trepidation that, as the football scores faded away, that Ben turned to watch Doctor Who. This is a flashback Metebelis 2 podcast on The Sun Makers. The opening song is Status Quo's 1977 hit "Rockin' All Over The World" and closing music is from Dudley Simpson's score for The Sun Makers.
