Americans still haven’t thawed their turkeys for Thanksgiving and we’re already putting up our Christmas trees at the Playing Doctor Podcast! This week we are joined by our long time friend Darryl Lewis of FlyingMonkeyMotoGear.com (he also made our awesome theme music) to discuss the Children in Need special and Christmas Invasion as we begin Series 2 of Doctor Who.

Time’s not the only thing that’s a bit wibbly-wobbly as the Doctor crashes the TARDIS into a truck and the Powell Estate itself just in time to get Rose home for Christmas. He’s got a new face and a touch of narcolepsy for the holidays and Rose is doing all the work to save Christmas from the Robot Santas of Doom Brass Section.

With spinning Christmas Trees of Death, Regeneration Energy Belches and finding Howard’s fruit in your night robes this promises to be one of the better Christmases in London until everyone climbs up on the roof when the Sycorax arrive.

You’ll want to bundle up and put on your winter clothes before you start dreaming of an Ashy Christmas of Death.

Some staunch RTD defending this week from the very smart and talented Matt Munson as we take on the ninth Doctor’s second episode.

I don’t know if we really meant for this to turn into a RTD era vs. Moffat era discussion, but it turned out that way and I think we take a really interesting look at just how much the show has changed since it came back in 2005. There is definitely a lot about RTD’s era that I dislike but it has to be said that he really got it right at the beginning and I think Matt and I make a really good case for that. This was another really fun episode to record.

What doesn't work is getting Harry, Leeson, Iamwilliam and JNT in a small room together and expecting a podcast to come out of it.

From between the copulating dolphin noises we attempt to discuss The Greatest Show in the Galaxy…we don't get very far. We do get contributions from @terriwestgate, Robert Konigsberg and Chris Buchanan (thanks all) and there is the return of the ubiquitous Iwillbewilliam (@digspinach).

But when Paul finally shows up, they get stuck into another audio story, The Ghosts of N-Space, a story so convoluted and filled with ethnic stereotypes, Paul can't help but have a Dolmio day whilst Phil lets rip with his best Sandra Dickinson impression.  Still, they have a good time even if no-one else does.  Now, you can put the dinner on, I'll be home in 20 minutes.
