Hello there, come in, come in.  Yes, it is dark isn't it?  The nights draw in ever so quickly these days.  There's a real bite in the air now - you'd almost think it was Winter!  Here, let me take that coat from you.  You must be freezing.  Blowing quite a gale out there, by the sounds of it.  You know, I remember a night like this oh.., many years back, when I was at school with old Monty.  Hah!  Now, there was a character and no mistake.  Famed for his fireside stories.  There's one he told me that fair set the hairs on the back of my neck a-rising (back when I was a wee lad, you understand.)  He wrote it down later and, do you know, I believe I have a copy of it somewhere.  Let me see...

Alan, Andy and Derek try not to go bump in the night as they discuss “The Tall Man”, a scary movie just in time for Halloween. And there are more monsters still (along with a few Gods) as the team then talk about the fantastic 7th Doctor “Gods and Monsters” trilogy from Big Finish.

In todays news I decide to travel outside the Doctor Who universe for a moment to discuss todays big announcement regarding another succesful sci-fi franchise. I then return to the vortex for the latest Who related news and podcast releases. We also announce details on how you can vote for next Tuesdays subject matter for our new Time Travel Tuesday feature. As always, enjoy!

This time around, a look at the first half of series 33.

To celebrate Halloween, 2012, we discuss the mind-blowing and arguably frightening Virgin New Adventure, The Pit by Neil Penswick.  From the back cover:

For two weeks now it has been the same message again and again, and it’s getting stranger; death and destruction, the end of all things, ARMAGEDDON.

In an attempt to lift the Doctor out of his irritable and erratic mood, Bernice suggests he investigates the mystery of the Seven Planets – an entire planetary system that disappeared without trace several decades before Bernice was born.

One of the Seven Planets is a nameless giant, quarantined against all intruders.  But when the TARDIS materializes, it becomes clear that the planet has other visitors: a hit-squad of killer androids; a trespassing scientist and his wife; and two shape-changing criminals with their team of slaves.

As riot and anarchy spread on the system’s colonized worlds, the Doctor is flung into another universe while Bernice closes in on the horror that is about to be unleashed – a horror that comes from a terrible secret in the Time Lords’ past.

If you’re wondering who Neil Penswick is, then you’re not alone; this novel was his single contribution to Doctor Who canon.  It was only after a little hunting that we were able to track down an interview with him (see the link on our blog page).  To the best of our knowledge, he’s currently working in an office, so when it all comes down to it he has one up on me, as I’ve never even tried to publish a novel.

After an extremely angry past 28 hours due to wind taking out our phone lines last night and twitter. I'm pleased to say that after all your support, I'm back for tonight's podcast. News, podcast releases and details of how to vote for the subject matter regarding our new feature, Monster Memories Monday. Also included are details for our soon to close competition and a new disclaimer before the opening titles appelaing for all feedback to be provided as you would wish to recieve it, if it were coming from ourselves. The Evil Dead Trilogy gave us the directing talents of Sam Raimi and the huge chin of a actor Mr Bruce Campbell. Sit back and let us entertain you with trailers, facts, the odd sound clip and some serious waffle covered in fake blood and chopped off hands.
