306: The Village People are In Control of Everything (Countrycide)
Trust Your DoctorI’m about to crack this conspiracy wide open.
A lovely stroll with the Village People. I look out across the village. We are happy here. We listen to Go West every day, on repeat. In the Navy is our national anthem. And when we’re feeling really risque, we’ll listen to YMCA. We’ve all heard it so many times we can recite the dance from memory. It is a good life. It’s Countrycide, written by Chris Chibnall and aired on November 19, 2006.

96.2 Two Thirds of Fascist Allegory, Barman
On the Time LashIn the second of their Davros 2-parter, Ben and Mark go back to the very beginning with (categorically) Terry Nation's masterpiece Genesis of the Daleks. Under discussion: The shadow of nuclear anxiety and fascism in Nation's best works, prejudice, brutality, the directorial genius of David Maloney, how Genesis is Doctor Who's Hamlet and we completely forget to talk about the giant clam. Also: Possibly the hardest ever round of DWDICG, Ben and Mark pitch a new beer to Brewdog, Mark's tenuous familial link to Michael Wisher and a very special tribute indeed...

Kyle Anderson & Ultra Q
Who and CompanyThis month, our guest is someone that's no stranger to Doctor Who podcast listeners. He's hosted a plethora of podcasts related to Doctor Who and all genres of movies and TV and he's been Senior Editor at Nerdist for many years. It's Kyle Anderson! Kyle "zooms" in to talk about how he became a podcaster and what it was like to host an online panel with Red Dwarf cast and crew (currently on BritBox)!
Then we discuss Kyle's Pick of the Month, the Japanese cultural icon, Ultra Q! Why did Kyle choose this very unique show and why has it lasted for so many decades in one form or another in Japan?

Episode 28: Rodents & Wasps
Something WhoAfter Stevie makes his first non-squeaking appearance on Something Who (or should that be Something Degu?), Paul, Giles and Richard are back for our Giant Animals special. OK, it's a fair cop guv'nor, really it's our Christopher Benjamin appreciation episode. Up first it's Fourth Doctor adventure The Talons of Weng-Chiang, followed by Tenth Doctor outing The Unicorn and the Wasp. We find more to say about the former than the latter, but we seem to have enjoyed both. And while Paul appears to say nothing remotely controversial about either story, Richard dives straight into the fray with his size 12s.
So put on your best bib and tucker, order up a Hansom cab, or a Rolls, and prepare to hob nob with the top nobs at The Palace Theatre and a country manor house.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.

Episode 226: The End of the World OR Maximum Hospitality Zone
PodcasticaThe Doctor, eager to impress his new friend, launches them not 100, not 10,000, but 5-ish billion years into the future! Because nothing impresses a shop girl more than seeing her home planet blasted to pieces by the expansion of the sun as it approaches its next phase of life. But not all is hunky dory as glorified skin pancake, Cassandra, is plotting some shenanigans of her own as a way to maybe sort of extort money out of the delegations present. Can The Doctor save the day, save Rose, and flip the script on Cassandra all while spending the whole season’s CGI budget? Welcome to The End of the World!

The Nine Doctor Returns! Plus - how to build a TARDIS!
The Doctor Who PodcastYes, he’s back! Christopher Eccleston has finally dusted off the ol’ leather jacket and returned to the role of Ninth Doctor, courtesy of Big Finish Productions. Join long term fans of Big Finish James, Ian and Michele as they talk about Ravages, the first Ninth Doctor box set of audio plays in the most spoiler-free way possible. Be warned – every fan’s spoiler threshold varies and whilst pains have been taken not to reveal story details, even the most minor point can spoil the enjoyment for some- so listening is ENTIRELY at your own risk! Gottit?! Fantastic!
Phil joins James later in the show to discuss how his (now finished) TARDIS-build! This conversation was recorded some time ago but did not make it onto a previous DWP for timing reasons. It is however, such a wonderful discussion and cements Phil’s status as uber-fan so profoundly that we just had to find a spot for it! You can also watch Phil talk about building his project intricate detail on the Who’s He YouTube page!
As always, we’d love to hear from you! Send in your thoughts and feedback (audio or written) on anything Who or DWP related and we’ll discuss on an upcoming episode. Email us at feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com, get in touch on Twitter or search for us on Facebook.

The Doctor Who ShowWhat started as an off-hand comment in an episode last season has grown into its own topic on today's show - Cool Spaceships in Doctor Who! Which are the ships we think are cool between 1963 and 2021... and why?
Before then, we do our usual news and short topics which, this month, includes some commentary on both the Noel Clarke and John Barrowman situations. Topics we aren't happy to be talking about but which, as we say in the episode, would be conspicuous by their absence if we ignored them. We also look at the BBCs stance on fan-created content.
Later in the episode it's over to our listeners for three great picks from our mailbag. And that's May!
Hope you enjoy the episode. Contact us anytime, hello@theDWshow.net

Redux 14: Classic Who Ends with Furries ft Steven (Survival)
Trust Your DoctorI can’t believe this, furries are canon.
Ah the end of two eras, almost if it weren’t for the last minute decision we made that makes this not the final episode before the hiatus. Instead we return with a shitty TV movie in a week. No not that TV movie. Not the one you’re thinking of. It’s a different one. One that’s actually shitty. Anyway before then, it’s Survival, written by Rona Munro and aired from November 22 to December 6, 1989.
Show-notes:
2:33 Here’s that episode on where Steven last appeared, From Out of the Rain.
5:44: Remember that time that canon said we should blow up Christopher Eccleston?
12:42: We turn here to the Tardis Wiki for information on Love and War.
15:10: Yes, The Curator really is in the next UNIT boxset.
21:15: This Ace Time Lord Arc would eventually be borne out in the audio Thin Ice, which was an adaptation of a script from the unmade Season 27.
23:55: The full title of the novel is “The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman”.
24:43: I am reading off the page for racism on the Tardis Wiki.
26:00: I highly recommend people check out The Art of Self-Defense, if only because it’s just hilarious.
29:12: The Goosebumps intro.
32:20: Wayne’s World Dot Gif
33:18: Here’s the link to the [redacted] wikipedia page where you can verify my facts.
33:59: And here’s Flings for all of our non-South African audience members.
35:37: I’m not gonna link any of this food because it’s all disgusting.
49:00: This is a subtle reference to the latest (as of right now) episode of Steven’s podcast Delayed Replay, which Dylan and I were on. We discussed The Matrix 4, a.k.a. M4TRIX, which is definitely out right now in May 2021 and not coming later.
48:55: Planet of the Apes is a semi autobiographical story about…
50:37: A Hath, a Hath, my kingdom for a Hath.
1:12:43: What the f*ck did you just say f*cking say about me?
1:17:51: Jordan Peele dot gif. Also check out Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast, our classic sci-fi podcast.
1:20:08: McCallum was a British crime drama TV show that has no sci-fi elements.
1:27:29: Yes we still have a blog, and if you never looked at it you personally are the reason that we haven’t updated it recently.
1:29:30: Find Steven and his stuff at:
His site
Amazon (his novel)
Delayed Replay podcast
Star Trek Culture podcast
Intergalactic Peace Coalition Podcast
Doc Holocron’s Youtube channel
University of Sussex Doctor Who Society
Kiyan and Dylan were recently on his Delayed Replay episode. We discussed The Matrix 4, a.k.a. M4TRIX
1:31:52: The podcast is called Yes Shit, and you should go and check it out when it releases.

Space Reasons
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThere was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior. A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
This week, we’re back in time having a jolly adventure when suddenly a thousand alien invasions happen at once and then the universe abruptly ends. It’s The Pandorica Opens.
Notes and links
Nathan references two very Whoniverse–centred books whose authors probably wince every time Steven Moffat gleefully smashes their carefully crafted fan theories. They are Lance Parkin’s AHistory: An Unauthorized History of the Doctor Who Universe, and 80s Cyberleader David Banks’s titular (or eponymous?) Cybermen, a laborious attempt to sort out the history of the Cybermen, which Steven Moffat rendered completely obsolete with a single line of dialogue in World Enough and Time.
Here’s Sylvester McCoy doing Matt Smith’s Pandorica speech. And here’s Colin Baker doing Matt’s speech from The Rings of Akhaten.
