The Wrongness of Torchwood & Recolourising Doctor Who
Kasterborous PodkastChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
The podKast is back this week with a spinoff of our hugely popular on-site discussion – thanks to Andy Frankham-Allen – about the inherent issues with Torchwood, the Doctor Who spinoff that ran from 2006-2011.
Following this we take a look at the issue of colourisation, and whether it should be used on any classic Doctor Who serials (or indeed whether any of them should be decolourised!).
Join Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian Terranova for (just over) an hour of Whoniverse chat and occasional madness, and listen out for our selection of recommendations this week, which range from Doctor Who to a Beatles/Led Zeppelin mashup with a lot in between…
Kasterborous PodKast Series 4 Episode 19 Shownotes

Episode 112: Persuasion, Enlightenment, and Who 37
The TARDIS TavernAfter leaving behind the alien spacecraft (and another dead podcaster), our heroes find themselves dining at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. The Dish of the Day is none other than JB Anderton of the Who 37 podcast, and he turns out to be rather tasty.
The time is ripe to talk about the Fifth Doctor once again, so we turn our sights to Peter Davison’s first filmed portrayal of the Doctor, “Four to Doomsday”. Will we be persuaded to see enlightenment in this story? Or is just a smear of green picked with pieces of Adric’s yellow tunic. Relax, pass the sodium chloride, and listen in!

Radio Free Skaro #426 - Telesnap Crackle Pop
Radio Free SkaroFancy a Doctor Who historical? Even those that don't exist anymore (for now)? The Three Who Rule certainly did, and so writer John Lucarotti, the scribe behind “Marco Polo,” “The Aztecs,” and “The Massacre (of St. Bartholomew’s Eve)" was the focus of this week’s Miniscope. Warren decided to go down a more textual path, and read the Target novelization of Marco Polo, while Steven and Chris braved the wild world of fan recons. How does Mr. Lucarotti fare under the glare of 2014’s wildly different pacing and tastes? Only one way to find out! But before that, our old friend Chip from Two-Minute Time Lord drops by to visit and talk about the news of the week, such as it is. Enjoy!

2MTL 345: Rebecca Moore and the Famous Infographic (Time Dilation)
Two-minute Time LordRebecca Moore and her fellow undergraduates at BYU-Idaho did a little study this year about female characters' representation in post-2005 DOCTOR WHO. You might have heard about it! I talk with Rebecca about what prompted the study, and what happened when her teammate Joseph Struhs's infographic got noticed on Tumblr and by The Guardian and went viral.
For other takes on the study, check out Verity! episode 43 and Charlie Jane Anders's io9 article, "Why the Bechdel Test is More Important Than You Realize."
