Podcastica Episode 270: Planet of the Daleks OR Not Actually Skaro
PodcasticaThis time we continue our trek through Season 10 with Planet of the Daleks! It's basically the second half of the planned 12-parter with Frontier in Space, but this time instead of political intrigue and The Master, we get a whole lot of Daleks, a planet that can't decide if it's a jungle or a frozen wasteland (ice volcanoes, really...), invisible natives, and the return of the Thals who've now started spaceflight! The pacing is pretty good, Jo is (again) amazing, and there's a fair bit to enjoy with Planet of the Daleks!

019: The Keys of Marinus
The Krynoid PodcastThe First Doctor and chums go for a whistle-stop tour of the wonderful world of Marinus.
Which is a great holiday venue, providing you avoid its cities, mountains, seas and jungles. And the intrepid traveller should also beware of flappy-footed gimps, trouserless tour guides, randy trappers and the Knights Who Say "Ni".
-
018: City of Death
The Krynoid PodcastThe Doctor and Romana go on their hols for a water and bouillabaisse blowout by the banks of the Seine.
Naturally, things do not run smoothly as an ancient alien, a pugilistic private dick and a mad scientist muddy the waters and they're surrounded by fake, if enigmatic, smiles.
-
017: The Three Doctors
The Krynoid PodcastThe Third Doctor probably thought things were bad enough - stuck on Earth as he was with a dud TARDIS, a scatty hippy and a bunch of squaddies.
But now he has to contend with CSO in his sink, a bunch of Mr Blobbys on his lawn and a loud-mouthed mentalist with a grudge. Luckily his former selves turn up to make things even worse.
-
016: Enlightenment
The Krynoid PodcastBack to re-uploading our 30 earliest episodes...
Avian headgear ahoy! Yes, the Black and White Guardians are back to oversee a space race in which Turlough goes overboard, Gladys Emmanuel is over the top and Leeee John is overestimated as an actor.

#219 - Yeti Are Scooby-Doo Kind of Monsters
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2The Abominable Snowmen Doctor Who animation is the centerpiece of this episode's discussion that ranges from the recent animation choices made by Gary Russell and Digitoonz to the original story by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln. Together they make a complex juxtaposition of early 2020s progressive sensibilities and late 1960s reactionism. What works and what, for lack of better words, is more Scooby-Doo than Doctor Who? The opening music is "Dakto Karpo" and closing music is "Rinchen Chabum" both from the 1975 recording Tibetan Folk Songs from Lhasa and Amdo. We recorded this episode on 8 January 2023.

Episode 59 - The Keys of Marinus (Philip Hinchcliffe; Jim Sangster)
Doctor Who LiteraturePossibly our biggest and boldest episode yet. The great Philip Hinchcliffe is back to discuss his third and (sadly) final Doctor Who novelization; August 1980's "The Keys of Marinus". Always an honor to speak to Philip, who had not read this book in decades and gained a new perspective on the text.
And Jim Sangster (@Monster_Maker) is back to discuss "Marinus" in both TV and book incarnations and why "Marinus" is so important to 21st-century "Doctor Who"... as well as Jim's prolific creative work and DW content, Bette Davis, limericks, and the long-awaited return of everyone's favorite game, "Guess That Cliffhanger".
The Bette Davis/George Colouris interview may be found in its entirety here.
The "Blake's 7" anthology for which Jim provided illustrations may be found and purchased here."Doctor Who and the Keys of Marinus" features cover art by David McAllister.

TDP 1120: #DoctorWho 3rd Doctor kaleidoscope
Tin Dog PodcastThis title was released in October 2022. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 30 November 2022, and on general sale after this date. His name is Kaleidoscope. He claims to have travelled halfway across the universe to warn all humankind that it stands on the brink of extinction. And a certain tenacious young journalist has got an exclusive interview with this alien messiah... But it’s not Sarah Jane Smith who’s got the out-of-this-world scoop - it’s her rival, the unscrupulous Jenny Nettles. Sarah's busy helping the Doctor and UNIT work out if Kaleidoscope is for real or a fake when RAF Phantoms scramble to intercept an unidentified something homing in on a top-secret missile base. It seems like Kaleidoscope’s apocalyptic predictions might all be about to come true. Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart © Haisman & Lincoln and used under licence. Extra! - A Verity! Regeneration
Doctor Who: Verity!Happy 2023, everyone! This year, after 10 years of podcasting, Verity! is going to regenerate! Join Deb, Erika, Kat, Liz, Lynne, and Tansy as we all look back at the last 10 years and share some general hopes for the future! We also chat about the trailer for the Tennant-and-Tate 60th anniversary specials. Much excitement and many feels all around!
Yes, that's right, Verity! will be taking a hiatus and making some changes, so think of this ep as the speech at the end of "Survival", but with the knowledge that the show WILL come back again -- and a lot sooner than Doctor Who did in the 80s/90s!
Many many thanks for listening, whether you've been with us since 2013, picked up somewhere since then, or are joining us right now! We appreciate the community that has built itself up around us, and we're excited to regenerate into the next version of Verity! to keep bringing you thoughts and feelings about Doctor Who for a good long while to come!
