Rob and Dave Unplugged (The DW Show Presents: Fandom in the 80s, 90s and Beyond)
The Doctor Who ShowJanuary 27, 2018 saw a lot of firsts... it was the first time Rob met Dave in person; the first time the guys recorded an episode of their show in person; the first time Rob had ever recorded a podcast with ANYONE else in the room; the first time they recorded with the guys from the New to Who podcast (see our February 25 episode); the first time Rob had met any of the Flight Through Entirety podcast team... and so on. You get the idea.
Anyway, at some stage on that very busy day, amid recording an episode of the Doctor Who Show and an episode of New to Who, Rob and Dave found time to crack out a single microphone, mount it on a table, and have a conversation about Doctor Who fandom in Australia. Basically how they came into it; what it was like; conventions, and more. They end up moving through the topic and even onto talking about the modern era of fandom that they now no longer feel a major part of, but are extremely supportive of.
Very personal... a little indulgent... and the sound quality isn't quite where the Doctor Who Show normally pitches, but if you're at all interested in our back stories, or Doctor Who fandom in Australia in the 80s and 90s in particular, this could be a very interesting episode for you to hear.

I’ve Walked Between That Cow
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThe world will be destroyed in four days, apparently, and to prepare for this, Brendan is wearing a stylish green velour suit, Richard has gathered his hair in a delightful side ponytail, and Nathan has just really let himself go. It’s Four to Doomsday.
Buy the story!
Four to Doomsday was released on DVD in 2008 in the UK and Australia, and in 2009 in the US. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK).
Notes and links
Fans of Philip Locke, who plays Bigon in this story, will enjoy his performances in three episodes of The Avengers: From Venus with Love, Mandrake and The Frighteners, which also featured Stratford Johns, who plays Monarch in this story. Horrifyingly, Philip Locke also plays creepy sexless henchmen Vargas in Thunderball.
Fans of bisected farm animals will enjoy Damien Hirst’s 1993 artwork Mother and Child.
Much like the Urbankans, cane toads were introduced into Australia to control the grey-backed cane beetle. As usual, this didn’t go well.
This YouTube video includes every utterance of the words “some kind of”, “some sort of” or “some type of” in Star Trek: Voyager. There are 393, for God’s sake.
Monarch weirdly anticipates Baron Silas Greenback from Danger Mouse.
Annie Lambert, this story’s Minister of Enlightenment, plays Helen McKay in The New Avengers episode Three-Handed Game.
Follow us!
Brendan is on Twitter as @brandybongos, Nathan is @nathanbottomley, Todd is @toddbeilby, and Richard is @RichardLStone. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.
We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at its new URL flightthroughentirety.sexy. (The older, slightly less silly URL still works too.) Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or we’ll totally interfere with your monopticons. Don’t think we won’t.
Doctor Who in 10 Seconds
We’re tremendously proud of Brendan’s latest video project, Doctor Who in 10 seconds, in which he flies through entire seasons of Doctor Who, hilariously summarising each story in no more than 10 seconds. Enjoy the spectacle by checking out the playlist on YouTube.
Bondfinger
While you wait for next weekend’s commentary podcast on The Spy Who Loved Me, why not enjoy our previous commentary podcasts on all of the preceding Bond films, including The Man with the Golden Gun, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Dr. No? You can find these commentaries on our website, and you can keep up with all the Bondfinger news on Twitter and Facebook.

125: Earthshock
The Krynoid PodcastWe start 2020 with an ending.
Loathe him or hate him, Adric has been a big part (prat?) of 80s Who but all things must pass, however indigestible.
Yes, this is Earthshock, which packed a couple of major bombshells back in the day (not counting Beryl Reid). It’s a tale of pointless deaths, some equally pointless characters and gender fluid troopers (many of them genuinely fluid by the time the murderous mime act has finished with them).
The Doctor promotes fine dining, Tegan packs heat, Nyssa plays house and Adric ploughs into the Diplodocidae. Meanwhile, it’s all bonuses and bollockings from Beryl and her long-suffering lackey can’t even sell out his own planet properly. Luckily Scott musters more machismo in his moustache than in Ringway’s whole body but cringing Kyle goes from gung-ho to agoraphobic at the drop of a boiler suit.
So were Jim and Martin wildly cheering or weeping inconsolably by the end of it all?
Listen to find out.
Also available on Spotify.

Episode 8: Father's Day
Who NewOn this very special episode of Blossom — I mean Doctor Who, Rose deals with the loss of her father.
Join us as we discuss Episode 78: Father’s Day
Rose asks the Doctor if she could see her father when he was alive, the Doctor is wary but grants her wish… Happy Father’s Day!

Episode 138 : The Caretaker
The Untempered Schism PodcastIt's time to go back to school as the Twelve Doctor goes deep under cover–by changing his jacket–at Clara's school. Not that his cover is very good, or very believable, or does anything but attract attention. Though with an alien war machine running around (as well as Clara's boyfriend) running around a little attention goes a long way.
