Absence makes the heart grow fonder, of course, but my excitement over the return of Doctor Who has more to do with its anticipated content than the fact that we haven't seen an episode since Christmas.

For this, The Untempered Schism's fiftieth show, we look back at a milestone in the history of Doctor Who. The War Games, an adventuring that brings us a number of milestones, including a great deal of history for the Doctor and his people. This epic ten part story is a major turning point for the show, and nothing will be the same.

The Oncoming Storm is now officially legal! And what better way to celebrate then with one of the classics of the New Adventures range, Love and War by Paul Cornell. If that's not enough, your hosts Josh and Ashley are joined by a special guest, Matt Kramer of the Legion of Substitute Podcasters! Matt has his work cut out for him to get a word in however, as Josh and Ashley are at it again, with Josh singing the praises of the book, and Ashley not quite ready to nominate it as a holy artifact just yet. Apologies are in order, this episode should have gone up earlier this week, but I have been sick as a dog. Regardless, it was so much fun to get my very good friend Ewan Anderson on the show (finally!) to talk about the Neil Gaiman penned episode “The Doctor’s Wife.”

We go off on a lot of tangents in this episode because we’re nerdy and that’s what we do, but I truly hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed recording it. You can definitely look forward to further appearances from Ewan on this here podcast.

Don’t call it a comeback! Except I just did!
