    13:51 (GMT) - 30 Oct 2012

To celebrate Halloween, 2012, we discuss the mind-blowing and arguably frightening Virgin New Adventure, The Pit by Neil Penswick.  From the back cover:

For two weeks now it has been the same message again and again, and it’s getting stranger; death and destruction, the end of all things, ARMAGEDDON.

In an attempt to lift the Doctor out of his irritable and erratic mood, Bernice suggests he investigates the mystery of the Seven Planets – an entire planetary system that disappeared without trace several decades before Bernice was born.

One of the Seven Planets is a nameless giant, quarantined against all intruders.  But when the TARDIS materializes, it becomes clear that the planet has other visitors: a hit-squad of killer androids; a trespassing scientist and his wife; and two shape-changing criminals with their team of slaves.

As riot and anarchy spread on the system’s colonized worlds, the Doctor is flung into another universe while Bernice closes in on the horror that is about to be unleashed – a horror that comes from a terrible secret in the Time Lords’ past.

If you’re wondering who Neil Penswick is, then you’re not alone; this novel was his single contribution to Doctor Who canon.  It was only after a little hunting that we were able to track down an interview with him (see the link on our blog page).  To the best of our knowledge, he’s currently working in an office, so when it all comes down to it he has one up on me, as I’ve never even tried to publish a novel.

    15:00 (GMT) - 29 Oct 2012

Special episode of Cultdom Collective hosted by Rand al'Thor. In mid-2009, Victor Surge posted images to the SomethingAwful forums of a tall and slender man haunting various individuals. All investigations were hushed. Some years earlier, college film student Alex Kralie abandons his student film, "Marble Hornets", and disappears altogether. Later, Alex's friend and fellow college film student Jay goes through the tapes left behind from the Marble Hornets film project, and begins uploading any strange footage to YouTube. On 23 November, 2010, Jay wakes up in a hotel room, with no memories of the past seven months of his life. There is only one other guest in the entire hotel, a young woman named Jessica. Since then other stories have cropped up around the Internet of lives devastated by a tall, slender, faceless figure in a businesssuit: Noah Maxwell, whose cousin Milo dies of a drug overdose, and soon Noah finds himself targetted by a "Mr. Slim" and a character known as the Observer; a group of friends who start up a prank fitness series featuring a friend dressing up as this entity which attracts the attention of the real thing; a young man in New Jersey who starts hearing strange noises in his house and learns of a former owner, Mark McComber, information that leads him and a friend to discovering a cult that worships a certain tall, faceless man. These are just some stories that have surfaced concerning an entity commonly known as the Slender Man.

Happy Halloween everyone!  We're celebrating it by reviewing the spookiest DW episode that we could think of, "The Unquiet Dead".  It's got Victorian England (ok, Wales),ghosts, zombies and the Doctor!  What more can you want on a Halloween night?

We also have a little rant about the Doctor and a whole lot of rabbit chasing.  Of course, we wouldn't be us if we didn't go after them rabbits.

Waffle On about The Evil Dead Trilogy

Happy Halloween 2012 to you all and what better way to celebrate than to listen to us two deadites talking about three classic horror films. The Evil Dead Trilogy gave us the directing talents of Sam Raimi and the huge chin of a actor Mr Bruce Campbell. Sit back and let us entertain you with trailers, facts, the odd sound clip and some serious waffle covered in fake blood and chopped off hands.

We have a growing Facebook group page so please do feel free to join it at https://www.facebook.com/groups/waffleon/ and jump into all the chat. We have been nominated for a European podcast award so if you fancy voting for us the link to that is on the Facebook group page. To paraphrase a wise old wizard: "I felt a great disturbance in the Whoniverse, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and never shut up." Yup, today Dan and Mike discuss the departure of the special snowflake that is Rose Tyler. How does she stack up against other companions, and can the actress be separated from the character? As for the episodes, there's "Fear Her," which is aneurysm-inducing, and "Army of Ghosts" / "Doomsday," which ends the season and brings the Daleks back as badasses!
