Doctor Who Podcast Episode 52: The Sylvester McCoy Era, Part 2: 'Remembrance of the Daleks'
Sound On Sight PodcastWe're continuing our look at the time of Sylvester McCoy, the seventh actor to play the role of the Doctor. This week we’re looking at the Doctor's inaugural Silver Anniversary adventure year that in many ways marked a return to form for the then beleaguered series. Join Derek Gladu, Eric Mendoza, Beverly Brown and special guest Terry Lightfoot from the Dirty Whoers Podcast as we review "Remembrance of the Daleks".
If you've not had the pleasure of listening to the Dirty Whoers, check out their, um, unique ratings system.
http://dirtywhoers.blogspot.
ca/2013/03/the-dirty-whoers- ratings-system.html And for your consideration, take a trip in our podcast time machine and listen to our 24th podcast, in which we discus Mr. McCoy's seminal adventure The Curse of Fenric.
And feel free to give us a rating on Itunes. It supports the show and is much appreciated.

Verity! Episode 23 - The "Other" Doctors
Doctor Who: Verity! We're back to talking Doctors this week, but perhaps not in the way you expected. Join Erika, Kat, Liz, and Tansy as we discuss those actors who played the Doctor non-canonically! *gasp* Yes, there are plenty of performances out there that don't fall under the umbrella of what went out on BBC1. More than some of us realized! Certainly more than some of us cared about.
As you may have noticed, we're sans Deb this week. With no one (but the hapless Erika) to reign in the troops, see just how far things go off the rails. (Actually, we remain pretty much on track until near the very end.)
(And despite the title of this episode, I'm afraid we don't actually dip back into the Virgin New Adventures and talk about that shadowy figure from Gallifrey's ancient past who may or may not have some direct connection to the Doctor. If you want to hear about that, check out this episode of The Doctor Who Book Club Podcast.)

Burning Issues 2.2 - Is the Sonic Screwdriver a magic wand?
The Doctor Who PodcastJoin Stephen, Leeson and James in the second of our newest series of Burning Issues episodes. The Sonic Screwdriver. Love it or hate it, it’s become a fundamental part of the show in much the same way as the TARDIS is. But has it’s continual presence in the series since 2005 done the show any favours? Do writers rely on it too much now as a magic wand that can resolve plot points? Join us in the campervan to find out what we think.
Michele and Ian also pop in and post a review of parts one and two of the second series of Counter Measures – the Big Finish spin-off series from Remembrance of the Daleks.

Episode #62: "Where All Da Time Lord Chicks At?"
Under The MiniscopeIt's time for Doctor Who: the Movie. No, not the McGann TV special. No, not the proposed 2012 project. Not even the Cushing films. But the first, most epic serial, so cinematic and sweeping in scope that it truly deserves the title- a story so amazing and vast that it could have played on the cinema screens. Yes, that's right... it's The Deadly Assassin. (Those crickets you hear chirping are not an indication of an audience bored to tears, we hope- just an artifact of having our windows open. Sorry!) Plus, a major battle of the sexes!

The Cloister Room 067 - The Mutually Interlocked Angel Situation
The Cloister RoomThis week Tom and Louis are randomly brought to Wester Drumlins for an encounter with the Weeping Angels. This one's an all-time classic, so you probably shouldn't expect us to have much to complain about. Louis remembers when he first saw the episode, and laments a bygone era when Moffat's writing was precious. Tom manages to find two (2) things to complain about. Also: a mulligan and a Mulligan.

I feel that ice is slowly melting
Who's He?In this episode Phil & Paul return to the world of Big Finish with a look at the 5th Doctor and Peri story Red Dawn. What do they think of this 13 year old story that was not widely regarded by certain quarters of fandom? You may be surprised at their reaction but it makes Phil find time to make comparisions with Prometheus and gets bogged down in continuity while Paul just shakes his head.
And in the news this week (which we should really call the "olds") they catch up on news items they have missed out on the last couple of weeks such as Christopher Ecclestones message for the 9th Doctor BFI event, some DVD news and a bumper edition of Omega's Tat Corner!!

Episode 32: Fear of the Dark
The Doctor Who Book Club PodcastJust one day late, we bring you August's episode, our recap and discussion of Trevor Baxendale's Fear of the Dark, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan, and a bunch of miners. From the back cover:
On the very edge of the galaxy lies Akoshemon: a putrefied world of legendary evil.
In the year 2382 archaeologists land on Akoshemon's only moon, searching for evidence of the planet's infamous past. But when the Doctor, Tegan and Nyssa are drawn into the lunar caverns they find more than a team of academics - and help uncover more than ancient history.
Something is lying in wait, deep inside the labyrinth of caves: something that remembers the spiral of war, pestilence and deprivation that ruined Akoshemon. Something that rejoiced in every kind of horror and destruction.
An age-old terror is about to be reborn. But what is the hideous secret of the Bloodhunter? And why does Nyssa feel that her thoughts are no longer her own? Forced to confront his own worse fears, even the Doctor will be pushed to breaking point - and beyond.
Fear of the Doctor is one of eleven novels recently republished by the BBC, each one featuring a different Doctor for the 50th anniversary. Thus, we are happy to tell you that it is readily available (and affordable!).

Radio Free Skaro #382 - Behind the Sophist
Radio Free SkaroDespite the Doctor Who world being split between multiple conventions this weekend (or because of it), the news was a bit thin this week, but that didn't stop the Three Who Rule from spinning their creative wheels in new and exciting directions, including the creation of Sofa-ism, a philosophy based on sitting around on your couch. Canada's national shame, otherwise known as Nickelback, was also name checked far more than necessary (ie. at all.) All this and an appearance from Sean Homrig of the Tardis Tavern podcast for our Name of the Doctor commentary! The mind reels at the riches in store for you. Next week: the producer Miniscopes begin in earnest!
