Martyn didn't have time to watch Kill Bill, so instead we're talking about nothing. The Gremlins are back in Bad Wilf towers and the last 15mins didn't record. Also, Martyn's microphone that he just spent PS30 on attachments for, decided to stop working two minutes in.

To give the impression that there is some rhyme to our reason, Episode 77 just needed to have a story aired in 1977, so there was a smorgasbord of Fourth Doctor and Leela yumminess to choose from. We like mysteries and we like robots, so naturally we had to turn our sights onto "The Robots of Death", that madcap little adventure that could be a cross between Alien and a Dick Tracy comic.

There's talk of Gallifrey past (I missed you, Steve!) and a hint of feedback (thank you, Dr. Phil!). And plenty of scotch and vodka, although not mixed together.

The Untempered Schism Podcast returns to the days of the First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbra as they visit The Planet of Giants (which might just be Earth) only to find themselves standing eye to eye with a number of insects. Fortunately the bugs are dead, unfortunately it's because of a new and highly toxic pesticide. To make matters worse they arrive just in time to witness a murder, but how much can you really do when you're an inch tall.

February means Valentine's Day, Gallifrey One, and, of course, zombies. Without further ado, we're proud as peaches to present our release for this month, White Darkness by David A. McIntee. From the back cover:

'We believe that death should always be a part of life.'

The Doctor's last three visits to the scattered human colonies of the third millennium have not been entirely successful. And now that Ace has rejoined him and Bernice, life on board the TARDIS is getting pretty stressful. The Doctor yearns for a simpler time and place: Earth, the tropics, the early twentieth century.

The TARDIS lands in Haiti in the early years of the First World War. And the Doctor, Bernice and Ace land in a murderous plot involving voodoo, violent death, Zombies and German spies. And perhaps something else - something far, far worse.

In what has now become an annual tradition, this episode was recorded "live" at Gallifrey in Los Angeles with a special guest: longtime listener and co-host of The Doctor Who Podcast, Michele.

White Darkness is the first Doctor Who novel by David A. McIntee, who went on to write ten other novels, all in the different ranges of the series, including The Dark Path, which we reviewed back in Episode 8. He also authored some Big Finish stories as well a few stories in the range of Star Trek novels.

Signs are spelt orl rong, a certain metal dog makes his debut as a violent virologist and a behemoth of a bottom-feeder gets pushed around on a skateboard, presumably in search of a suitably large barbeque upon which to end his days.

Now where did I put that Thousand Island dressing…?
