Brendan, Richard and Nathan enjoy the rare treat of watching a really great episode of 60s television: it’s one of Robert Banks Stewart’s sources for The Seeds of Doom: a 1966 episode of The Avengers called Man-Eater of Surrey Green.

    Watch the show

You can watch Man-Eater of Surrey Green in its entirety here. (But is has since been taken down due to a copyright claim.)

If you want to find out all there is to know about The Avengers, take a look here at Avengers Forever.

Future Steed sidekick Linda Thorson appears as a Cardassian in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The Chase, which is otherwise pretty terrible, to be honest.

Joanna Lumley (eventually) played the Doctor in Steven Moffat’s The Curse of Fatal Death, a Comic Relief special broadcast in 1999.

In the Thin Man films, including Thin Man (1934) and its five sequels, a detective and his wife, played by William Powell and Myrna Loy, have a lovely time solving mysteries together. It’s terribly good, apparently.

We’ll be back next week with The Masque of Mandragora.

    Direct Podcast Download

    06:30 (GMT) - 4 Sep 2015

Hello you lot. Episode 54 drops a huge news story this week and then we’re onto our review of what seems like an often forgotten episode from series 1.

    The News

We’ve been thinking about this and wondering if it will happen for a while and now we have confirmation – River Song is back! The BBC have officially announced that River will be back for this year’s Christmas Special starring alongside Peter Capaldi. We’re not sure on River’s involvement past the Christmas Special and this is the only episode currently featuring the character that we’re aware of. Christmas is certainly looking to be a belter.

While Big Finish are pumping out some amazing audio plays we can’t forget some of the great BBC Audio books that have graced our ears. Coming this September are two interesting looking titles; The Two Doctors read by none other than Colin Baker and The Curse of Fenric read by Terry Molloy. These sound cool and worth checking out.

Rejoice! The long awaited troubled DVD The Underwater Menace has finally come up for pre-order on the BBC Shop site. Priced at PS13.99 it should be released on the 26th October. If you want a signed copy by Anneke Wills you can pre-order from her site for slightly more at PS18.99.

    “Boom Town” Review

Ah Boom Town, the often misplaced episode from Who’s return in 2005. Viewed as a filler story before the two-part finale that follows can it redeem itself and go out with a boom or just fizzle out like a faulty extrapolator?

    This week’s trivia question

Last episode we asked you – In Enlightenment. What is the name of Captain Striker’s ship? The answer is – Metropolitan Magazine.

This week’s question is – Which story did Roger Delgado’s wife provide her voice? Give us your answer in the comments below or post it on Twitter or Facebook. Good luck!

You guys were fantastic this week, thanks for all your comments and views. Next week we’re scoffing jelly babies as we review Tom Baker story The Deadly Assassin. Have a wonderful week and remember – Allons-y!
