In this special “Irwin Allen” edition of The Doctor Who Book Club Podcast, we read and discuss Steve Lyons’ 1995 Virgin Missing Adventure Time of Your Life featuring the Sixth Doctor.  From the back cover:

‘Organic bugs must be purged from the system,’ the screen told him.  Then, more succinctly, ‘You die.’

The Network broadcasts entertainment to the planets of the Meson system: Death-hunt 3000, Prisoner: The Next Generation, Bloodsoak Bunny…  Sixteen channels, and not one of them worth watching.  But for the citizens of poverty-stricken Torrok, television offers the only escape from a reality too horrible to face.

Angela, a young inhabitant of Torrok, leaps at the chance to travel to the Network with a hermit who calls himself the Doctor.  However, all is not well on the giant, chaotic space station.  A soap star has murdered his wife’s lover; the robotic regulars of Timeriders are performing random kidnappings; and a lethal new game show is about to go on air.

Can the Doctor uncover the cause of the apparently random disturbances – or will his appearance as a competitor on Death-hunt 3000 be the last of his life?

In which Doctor Squee & his Time-Dog Dottie Who welcome you to their new podcast by starting a run-down of the 9th Doctors episodes.

This episode we are reading X-Men issues 25 (Oct 1966) and 26 (Nov 1966) in which the X-Men tackle El Tigre. We finally start to see some more development in the Scott/Jean/Warren love triangle that has been causing tension in the team from day one but we'll have to wait until next time to find out how it all unfolds. Meanwhile, we talk about Captain America, The Raid II, and Agents of Shield. So much geekery!

This one really has all the pieces you've come to expect, lots of shooting, things blowing up, Bessie and rubbery costumes. All in all a rather fun romp with the Doctor and Doctor Liz Shaw.

Once again Phil and Paul turn their attentions towards the Doctors adventures in audio with a look at a 7th Doctor story from Big Finish titled The Dark Flame.  But is this one any good?  Is this a story that will make those who dislike Sylvester McCoys portrayal of the Doctor change their minds or merely serve as another example as to why they dislike him so?

And in a very short news section this week, British Pathe release old Movietone News reels containing very some fairly tenuous links to Doctor Who, the Hugo Award 2014 nominations are revealed in which Doctor Who dominates and as it's a slow news week, the latest news in John Barrowmans attempts at dropping hints that he'd like another series of Torchwood and appear again in Doctor Who.

Once again Phil and Paul turn their attentions towards the Doctors adventures in audio with a look at a 7th Doctor story from Big Finish titled The Dark Flame.  But is this one any good?  Is this a story that will make those who dislike Sylvester McCoys portrayal of the Doctor change their minds or merely serve as another example as to why they dislike him so?

It must be "The Sontaran Stratagem", part one of the two part 10th Doctor Sontaran story. It's the focus of our show this week. Tho, we must admit, sometimes our focus gets a little fuzzy.
