Episode 1002 – Smile
Who NewThe Doctor and Bill visit a planet with a brand new human colony but no people. Only friendly, willing-to-please robots. This will not end well.
Join us as we discuss Doctor Who Episode 1002 – Smile
It’s time for Bill’s first official trip in the Tardis. The Doctor asks, “Past or Future?” Bill wants to see the future in the hopes that it’s happy. Off they go to an Earth colony that has cracked the mystery of perpetual happiness. But the planet doesn’t have any people, only micro-robots and interface-devices with happy emoji faces.
Bill and The Doctor wonder what happened to everyone, while the interface-devices make sure that they are happy in every way. The Doctor starts to become suspicious when the devices don’t seem to react well when Bill or he aren’t happy. Soon, they realize that can’t have emotions other than happiness. It makes the devices angry. You wouldn’t like them when they’re angry.

Gin & TARDIS #10 – Day of the Daleks
The Doctor Who ShowJoin Dave from the Doctor Who Show, Rob from 42 to Doomsday, and Richard from Spacefall: A Blakes 7 Podcast, after knocking back a few gin and tonics at Dave’s place and watching Day of the Daleks.
Day of the Daleks is the first serial of the ninth season of Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 1 to 22 January 1972. It was the first of four Third Doctor serials to feature the Daleks, which returned to the series for the first time since The Evil of the Daleks (1967).
The Doctor and UNIT investigate the attempted assassination of British diplomat Sir Reginald Styles, whose attacker apparently disappeared into thin air.
And yes, there’s a musical number at the end 😉

Radio Free Skaro #1040 - Scotland 1965
Radio Free SkaroThe Three Who Rule take on the big questions this week, including whether or not to call the Sea Devils "Homo Aqua," possible BBC broadcast plans for The War Between the Land and the Sea, the existence of 4K 35mm transfers of telecined old TV shows, and most importantly the spreading media virus known as the Spiral Staircase, which has driven Steven further around the bend than usual! Plus Tubi intrigue regarding the status of Classic Doctor Who, Doctor Who Magazine issuing massive pieces about Carole Ann Ford and Terry Nation, and most importantly, the first of our five-part re-evaluation of Torchwood: Children of Earth!

Radio Free Skaro #1039 - So Here It Is
Radio Free SkaroThe moment has arrived! That is, an actual announcement of Doctor Who's future from the BBC (and not the outgoing Disney+) in the form of a last hurrah from Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf by way of a Christmas special in 2026, along with official confirmation of Turf and Surf hitting the iPlayer this Christmas and Disney+ in February. What does this portend for both the present and future of Doctor Who? The Three Who Rule put on their television detective hats and as usual solve nothing, as do many entertainment journalists including friend of the show Kyle Anderson, and lesser lights such as Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter. Plus the usual Big Finish cover over-analysis, a smidgen of Can*Con, and the conclusion of our four-part Classic Series Commentary for "The Sun Makers"!

Episode 120: The Mistaken Prometheus
Something WhoThis pairing of stories linked to Mary Shelley's horror story Frankenstein was Richard's idea: in the last episode we looked at the four part 4th Doctor story from early 1976 and Season 13 - The Brain of Morbius, which we've paired this time with 2020's 13th Doctor outing The Haunting of Villa Diodati from Series 12. We'll decide whether these stories have animated us like a bolt of lightning or left us feeling like mouldering corpses. Joining Richard for the discussion are Gav, Giles and Paul.
We recorded this episode in August; the first part came out in September and this part has taken until November; sorry for the wait.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
Gav's excellent YouTube series Terry Nation Army can be found here: https://youtube.com/user/Dalek6388. Also, next time you're in the North West, check out his new venture - West Kirby Escape Room: The Jurassic Factor westkirbyescaperoom.co.uk
Head over to https://www.bigfinish.com/, where we all love Paul's stories. You can find his latest Companion Chronicle The White Ship here as part of the Families box set: https://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/doctor-who-the-companion-chronicles-families-3001
Giles is a published author with many books, primarily related to science and astronomy. check out his work here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Giles-Sparrow/author/B001IXOESC, at all good bookshops, and a few bad ones too.
Richard's other podcast "If It's Hurting, It's not Working" is currently on hiatus, but it's a fun and informative look at work - why we work, how we work, and what makes a great job. And also what makes a great workplace, how to turn things round when we're not enjoying our work and, in the end, how we can all make our work better. For all episodes, go to https://ifhurtnotwork.podbean.com/ and https://ifhurtnot.work.
The Something Who logo, which features prominently on all our cover art was designed for us by Bea Garrido. She's a really talented artist, who you can find by following this link: https://beagarridoart.weebly.com/, where you can buy prints of some remarkable paintings of characters from Doctor Who.
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.

Episode 1003 – Thin Ice
Who NewWhile enjoying the Frost Fair of 1814, The Doctor and Bill learn people are disappearing and something is lurking under the ice. The Loch Ness Monster? A Tyrannosaurus Rex? Maybe something even bigger.
Join us as we discuss Doctor Who Episode 1003 – Thin Ice
The Tardis lands in London during the last of the Frost Fairs on the Thames. The Doctor and Bill dress for the occasion and start exploring the Fair. They are generally enjoying themselves until a boy steals the Sonic Screwdriver. They chase him across the ice when suddenly he is pulled under by circling green lights.
The Doctor and Bill rush to find out what the lights are and how to stop them. As the mystery leads them across London, they begin to realize that it might not be a creature in the river that’s the monster.

Episode 121: Missing Episodes - Mmm... Power
Something WhoMarco, Myth Makers, Masterplan, Power. It's the Omnirumour all over again!
Well, not quite. Gav, Giles and Paul join Richard for a discussion about the episodes themselves. In this moment of Film is Fabulous talking about standalone episodes existing in film collections, Gav had the idea of each of us picking two standalone missing episodes to try to unravel some enduring mysteries. Originally there weren't going to be any Dalek episodes, but Gav and Richard forgot that part of the brief.
We've moved - for all episodes, now go to https://open.spotify.com/show/4c8RB62kyKkfMPixhM7MmG.

The Doctor Who Podcast Film Club - Christmas Edition
The Doctor Who PodcastIt’s only a week to Christmas!! Here in the DWP Campervan, we are getting into the Christmas spirit – by watching films that remind us of this wonderful time of year. However, given its impossible for us to sustain conversation about films (or indeed ANY subject) without refencing Doctor Who, James, Brent and Phil draw parallels between the films they’ve selected with Doctor Who stories! Can you guess the Who connection before they do?! It won’t be hard….!
We’ll be back on Sunday with our review of the Finale to The War Between The Land and the Sea, and then again in just a few days time ON CHRISTMAS DAY – with our own very Christmas Special! If the BBC can’t provide a Doctor Who Christmas celebration, then we will! Hooray!
Enjoy the madness! 🙂
