"You must not let the bell chime!"

July 1859, and all of London has descended upon the Palace of Westminster to see the installation of the Great Bell, the largest bell in the world. At last, the houses of parliament will be complete, when the infamous bell rings in its new clock tower for the first time. It is a glorious time in the British Empire, for Victorian London and for History itself. Well, according to the Doctor anyway. The Computer, is just bored.

But while the Doctor hobnobs with Sir Benjamin "Big Ben" Hall, First Commissioner of Works, the Computer discovers a mysterious gypsy woman with an odd ability to tell the future. Who warns that the Great Bell must never be struck, lest it bring about an apocalypse for the entire world!

Is the gypsy woman to be believed? Will the world end on the chimes of midnight? With the mysterious behaviour of the bell's designer, and the disappearance of the master of the foundry where the bell was forged, the Doctor finds his visit into history soon becomes a frantic race against chime...

Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the first of our new series of Minisodes! These will be shorter episodes that we'll throw in randomly between the longer, monthly episodes that will contain various interviews, reviews, and other junk. 

What we have for you this time, however, is certainly not junk. Our first Minisode is also the first episode in a project to trace Doctor Who fandom in Canada over the years. The project is Julian's baby, and in this episode he interviews Catharine Cardiff about her experience as a Doctor Who fan in Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, about being a fan on the West Coast of Canada in the 1980s.

The lads turn their gaze to talking over the *cough* David Agnew *cough* masterpiece City of Death, heralded by Doctor Who fans as one of the best stories of our beloved show. Or at least as the highlight of Season 17. Ribald jokes and insightful analyses are paired like a meal with a fine French wine as we wander the streets of Paris.

After the highs of last weeks official convention, we hit the lows with The End Of Time Part 1 in the continuation of the 2009 Specials retrospective. Unfortunately this episode contains nothing but Paul and Phil voicing their disappointment and frustration at this very woeful episode of Doctor Who but do find the time to extol the virtues of having Bernard Cribbins to liven things up. They also go off topic and discuss how the Master has been portrayed over the years.

And in this weeks news, more series 7 production snippets, the bad smell that is David Yates and the Doctor Who movie and Daleks. Lots of Daleks. All this plus Paul takes over the show as Phil has been moonlighting rather a lot.

A brief lull in Inspector Spacetime has left us somewhat paddle-less in the creek of podcasting. We couldn’t bring ourselves to break from our tight weekly schedule, though, so we hunkered down and recorded a short episode for our faithful listeners. As March closes, we are pleased -- and perhaps a bit giddy -- to present our review of The Crooked World by Steve Lyons (author of Conundrum, which we talked about back in Episode 6). Before we begin to tell you exactly why we both want to have a common law marriage with Mr. Lyons, perhaps you should first read the back cover:

The people of the Crooked World lead an idyllic existence.

Take Streaky Bacon, for example. This jovial farmer wants nothing more from life than a huge blunderbuss, with which he can blast away at his crop-stealing nemesis. And then there's Angel Falls, a racing driver with a string of victories to her name. Sure, her trusted guardian might occasionally put on a mask and menace her for her prize money, but that's just life, right? And for Jasper the cat, nothing could be more pleasant than a nice, long nap in his kitchen -- so long as that darn mouse doesn't jam his tail into the plug socket again.

But somebody is about to shatter all those lives. Somebody is about to change everything -- and it's possible that no one on the Crooked World will ever be happy again.

The Doctor's TARDIS is about to arrive. And when it does... That's all folks!
