This week Kiyan and Dylan reach into the 1980s for real. By which I mean, everything takes a turn for the synth. Yes, the title theme is synth, the visuals look totally 80s, and everything is in a new decade. It’s The Leisure Hive, written by David Fisher and aired in August and September of 1980.

Back in London with Sarah Jane Smith and company investigating the strange going-ons at the local old folks home. Turns out they have a minor Nun infestation thanks to the local Abby, which is also the home of an alien Gorgon who really wants an old lady’s jewelry…. and she doesn’t care who gets turned into stone in the process.

It's nothing that Lela and the Fourth Doctor can't deal with, assuming they can find out what is going on deep inside the ship.

Welcome Who fans to episode 43, jump onboard the Tardis for Doctor Who news (including a mild rant) and our review of The Lodger. Now, onwards we go...

The News

A bitter sweet bit of news for UK fans, the principle cast of DW (Capaldi, Coleman, Gomez and Moffat) are going to Comic Con San Diego. This is awesome news as the show’s international reach and prominence is increased but please, folks of the BBC, we have a couple of great conventions too you know.

A new book is out in October which looks like it’s going to be a corker _Doctor Who: Impossible Worlds: A 50-Year Treasury of Art and Design. The book will cover the design and evolution of things like sets, costumes, spacecraft etc and will include plenty of photos, write ups and even trivia. Pre-order your copy here.

Good news for DW fans in India as we hear that modern Who has been broadcast since 15th May on FX. It’s gained a lot of traction internationally over the last 10 years and to now see it broadcast in India is another step forward.

“The Lodger” Review

It’s back to modern Who this week as we look at a series 5 Matt Smith and James Corden team up in this creepy tale of sinister aliens, a Doctor adapting to human life and a love story which comes good. Does it leave us cheering like fans at a Sunday league football game or bored up on the second floor?
