Verity! Episode 18 - Companion Confab: The Modern Woman
Doctor Who: Verity! What would a 50th anniversary celebration year be without some talk of the companions? Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy as we take a break from our Classic Doctors countdown to chat about the companions who were "modern women" at the time they were on the show. Is Barbara the greatest? What's changed about contemporary companions over the years? And has such change been for the better? Are "modern" companions even necessary? Is Barbara really the greatest?
We cover those questions and much more. So much more, in fact, that there's even a mention of "Doctor in Distress". (Editor's note: Click that link at your own risk. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.)

Interviews with John Leeson and Chase Masterson at Big Finish Day 3
The Doctor Who PodcastIt’s another interview special! This time, we are immensely proud to present an interview with the definitive tin dog himself, Mr John Leeson. And if that wasn’t enough, we talk to the legend that is Chase Masterson about playing opposite both Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy in recent Big Finish plays and how her portrayal landed her with her own spin-off series, Vienna.
These are just two of the interviews we recorded at Big Finish Day 3, more are on their way very soon. Our thanks go to 10th Planet Events and Big Finish Productions allowing us to cover the event.
Next week: they’re BACK! Trev, Tom and James put some classic DVDs under the microscope and Ian and Michele return with a review of one of the latest Fourth Doctor and Romana Big Finish plays. Don’t miss it!

TDP 324: TORCHWOOD:FRANKIE
Tin Dog PodcastThe series was first announced in May 2012 alongside three other new commissions forBBC One and BBC Three. Kate Harwood, the controller of drama series and serials for the corporation described the new drama commissions as "a tribute to the huge range of creativity and talent within the in-house drama teams in both London and Salford".[3] An initial synopsis described the series as "a modern and redemptive" introspection of the life of a district nurse "whose patients matter more to her than her personal life".[3] Further information was released in September in a BBC press release that described the aim of the series as "to build up a portrayal of the challenging, complex and ultimately life affirming world of district nursing".[4] Writer and creator Lucy Gannon wrote that she was "thrilled to be writing about strong modern people [...] who all - whatever their flaws, are determined to make a difference, to make life better".[4] The series is executive produced by Hilary Salmon, produced by Erika Hossington and directed by Mark Everest. It consists of six sixty minute episodes, both set and filmed in the English city of Bristol.[4]

The Cloister Room 057 - Nostalgia For Old Hatred
The Cloister RoomTom and Louis met to discuss the overall quality of Doctor Who's seventh series, but were derailed briefly by a plague of missing episode rumors (skip to 18:44 if you don't want to hear about those). Tom waxed vitriolic about The Power of Three, while Louis appraised the season's worthiness as a farewell to Matt Smith. All this and tangents!

Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are
Who's He?After what seems like a lifetime, Phil and Paul finally return to their series 3 retrospective with Daleks In Manhattan. Has time been kind to this story or is it still the big mess that they remembered? Rest assured, both Paul and Phil give a reasoned critique but during the course of their dissection, Phil puts on a showgirl voice, Paul manages to insult Wales and quickly backtracks and the whole conversation degenerates into hardcore pornography.
And in the news this week, the saga of the recovered (or not recovered) missing episodes is discussed, Roath Lock will get Royal patronage, Matt Smiths thank you to cast, crew and fans and last and by no means least, Omega's Tat Corner makes it's triumphant return wherein you will hear the phrase "ring hanger".
