Big Blue Box Podcast - Episode 55
The Doctor Who Big Blue Box PodcastHowdy Who fans! We have some cool news to go through then we’re back to Gallifrey for this week’s classic story review.
The News
The UK now has a confirmed start time for the series 9 opener on the 19th September – 7:40pm. Make a note and don’t be late!
More Torchwood audio is on the way from Big Finish. This time Eve Myles and Kai Owen return to continue their adventures. Hopefully a complete Torchwood cast audio is on the way.
There have been a couple of extra guests added to the Doctor Who Festival in November. Regular writer Mark Gatiss and Big Finish maestro Nicholas Briggs will be there. There will also be photo opportunities.
The BBC, as part of the ongoing Male it Digital campaign, are launching a new game creator on the 15th September. They will provide the assets and tutorials to get you going then your creativity is your only limitation! We love that the BBC is encouraging creativity in the Who fandom and can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.
“The Deadly Assassin” Review
After a precognitive vision we’re back on Gallifrey for a classic Tom Baker story. Companionless The Doctor has been framed by The Master so it’s all going on. Does this often liked story get us rooting for the Doctor or does it leave us wandering around the Matrix?
This week’s trivia question
Last episode we asked you – Which story did Roger Delgado’s wife provide her voice? The answer is – Planet of the Spiders.
This week’s question is – On what planet are Voltrox found? Give us your answer in the comments below or post it on Twitter or Facebook. Good luck!
It’s been great going through this week’s Who stuff with you and we’re getting more excited as series 9 draws closer. Remember to give us your thoughts on next week’s review episode – David Tennant’s Planet of the Ood. Have a great week and remember – Allons-y!
-
Episode 4: People Have Traveled with Me and I've Lost Them
A Disused Yeti
Or A Disused Yeti Passes the Bechdel Test. Due to scheduling issues Risa takes with Frances Martin and Michelle Nishimura about where the show started to lose them and how it might win them back.

Terminus Podcast -- Mini Episode 1: Turn of the Earth: Ten Years of New Who
Terminus: A Doctor Who PodcastIT'S ALIVE! Galvanizing lightning has struck, the stars have aligned, the hecatomb of Daleks sacrificed, and despite recording with a bit of a scratchy-and-sore throat, a new episode is now in the can! It's debatable if it is a 'proper' episode, I suppose, as the format is a bit different from usual, so I've decided to just call it a 'mini-episode' (though admittedly, its not very short or anything). I'm just now trying to get back on the horse and rework the recording schedule going forward, since so much has happened between this episode and the last one. SO MUCH!
Either way, I'm back now, giving this another go, with a chat about the 10th Anniversary of the new series and a look back at the episode that started it all, 'Rose'. I also have some new station idents from Andrew Cartmel and Sylvester McCoy to debut as a little bonus, because, well, they make me super-happy!
Anyway, many, many apologies for the extraordinarily long wait, but also many thank-yous to those who've been listening all this time and cheering me on to return to my podcast again. Join me on this episode as I chat about ten years of the new series of Doctor Who and also the episode Rose, the latter of which I'm not very nice about, to be honest, so you've been warned!
And, as always, glad to have you aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Doctor Whooch // Episode 063 // Horseshit Levelry
Doctor WhoochIn which we revisit the day we got engaged, with cursing.
First: EXCITING NEWS! Doctor Whooch will be weekly through the end of Series 9, and that's going to be a thing.
Now: as we count down to the premiere of Series 9, we're revisiting the first episode of Series 8: Deep Breath. And guess what. We have Moffat opinions. Also, we search for The Master slash fic (but generally forget to finish that quest), find out that we're not good with boats, and Danica swears at the cats and generally can't say words or names.
And hey, tune in next week for what's essentially the second part of this episode - and then it's straight on to NEW WHO. YESSSSSS.
Outro music is "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac

The Cloister RoomTom and Louis chart a course for one of Big Finish's most celebrated release, the chilling Chimes of Midnight. The Oncoming Storm Ep 157: Damaged Goods, The Triumph of Sutekh, Three's a Crowd, Catch 1782
The Oncoming StormHas it been two weeks already? Did you doubt we'd come back? Never fear, we wouldn't do that to you again so soon! And we still have so much Doctor Who to talk about from over the summer. We weren't just reading books and comics, there audios! Soooooo many audios! This week, three musketeers Josh, Ashley, and Jeff try to wade through just a little bit of what they listened to over the summer. And barely make a dent in the list. However, the do manage to listen to some of the best of Big Finish... and the worst. First up is New Adventure adaptation Damaged Goods, by Russell T himself, adapted by Jonathan Morris. Spoilers: It's really good. Then we join Ms. Bernice Summerfield as she, the Doctor and Ace try to fight against The Triumph of Sutekh! Back on our retro review list, we have Three's a Crowd by Colin Brake, and Catch 1782 by Alison Lawson. These reviews do not go well. Neither does the news for that matter, as Josh is missing something very important to him! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we don't have delivered Doctor Who books even though Amazon says they were! The Postman is gonna hear about this...

42 to Doomsday - Return of the J.R
42 To DoomsdayEpisode 43 - J.R Southall makes a dramatic return appearance hanging from the bottom of a Police Box carried by helicopter to help us close out our 'terrible two's celebrations. Once again, we venture into the minefield that is known as Death in Heaven and hopefully emerge unscathed. We then look at the topic of Doctor Who biopics - which period of the show would we like to see dramatized? and what Target Book's novelists would we like to see adapt Nu Who stories into prose. Rob and J.R also discuss their publishing work and their approaches to it. We then venture back into the minefield, this time stark naked to dare ask the question that has stumped philosophers for the last 2000 years - who is the better writer - Steven Moffatt or Aaron Sorkin?
