Farewell, Mr. Moffat
Gallifrey Public Radio - A Doctor Who PodcastIn what was the start of a wild weekend of unexpected news regarding Doctor Who, the BBC released a statement that with the airing of Series 10 of the revived program, six-year head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat would be stepping down from his position, and handing the reins over to Broadchurch showrunner Chris Chibnall. While many were aware that Moffat was actively seeking his successor (odds favoring veterans and insiders like Brian Minchin, among others), the news that it would be happening in one more season was shocking enough. When combined with the notification to the public that, with the exception of a 2016 Christmas special, there would be no new content until Spring of 2017, the story grew from surprise, to shock -- and in many's eyes, upset. The official news release from the BBC regarding Steven Moffat's departure In this unscheduled reaction episode, we look at all the facts given in the BBC statement regarding Moffat's departure, Chibnall's succession, and the Series 10 delay. We try to make some sense of the circumstances, the impact it will have on the program both in content, casting, and audience, and how much we're actually being told about the machinations within the BBC. Join Deb, Erika, and Tansy as we talk about our feelings upon hearing Steven Moffat will be stepping down after season 10. And just as importantly, we discuss our hopes and fears for the Chris Chibnall era to come. Of course, the news that we won't have any new Doctor Who until the Christmas special is quite something as well. We've got sadness and joy, hope and fear, excitement and meh.
What about you? What was your reaction to all the news? Let us know in the comments!

TDP 756: #DoctorWho Main Range 236 - Serpent in the silver mask from @BigFinish
Tin Dog Podcast@TinDogPodcast reviews the brilliant #DoctorWho Main Range 236 - Serpent in the silver mask from @BigFinish You are cordially invited to Argentia, the galaxy's most exclusive tax haven, to attend the funeral of mining magnate Carlo Mazzini. The memorial service will be followed by music, light refreshments, and murder! Carlo's heirs have come to say their final goodbyes (and find out how much they've inherited) but when a masked killer begins picking them off one by one, Argentia goes into lock-down, closed off behind its own temporal displacement field. Can the Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Adric apprehend the murderer before Argentia - and everyone on board - is forever cut off from the rest of the Universe? Written By: David Llewellyn Directed By: Barnaby Edwards Cast Peter Davison (The Doctor), Janet Fielding (Tegan Jovanka), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Matthew Waterhouse (Adric), Samuel West (The Mazzini Family), Phil Cornwell (Superintendent Galgo / Zaleb 5), Sophie Winkleman (Sofia). Other parts played by members of the cast. Producer David Richardson Script Editor Guy Adams Executive Producers Jason Haigh-Ellery and Nicholas Briggs
