The Corsair's Closet podcastA Corsair's Closet first - Madwoman shuts up for a whole minute! She also went on about how I got her addicted to knitting...but she's was addicted BEFORE we met. Man, time travel screws with your brain! For those of you bored with that topic, I promise one day I'll pull out those ancient photos of the Nasa Nerd in a corset. For now, you'll have to be content with listening to the gory details as we frighten everyone with our Transalvanian plans for a very Transexual Blood Drive next year at Loscon.

Shedding Some Light on the PodKast
Kasterborous PodkastIn a Christian-free episode, Brian Terranova and James McLean discuss differences in British and American genre TV over the years, chatting about lighting and cinematography. Oh, and the TV Movie and its similarities and differences with The X Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
That’s before the podKasting pair wend their way to discussing the real point of this week’s edition: just what is going on with Christopher Eccleston, his hair and his comments concerning Doctor Who‘s fiftieth anniversary?
You can hear James’ and Brian’s thoughts on the matter, plus our new weekly recommendations feature, by clicking the play button below.
Whether you're a new listener (welcome to the podKast!) or and existing subscriber to our weekly chats, here's how you can listen:
- Use the player in the top right of each page on Kasterborous.
- Listen with the "pop out" player above, which also allows you to download the podKast to your computer.
- Third, you can take advantage of the RSS feed to subscribe to the podKast for your media player, and also find us on iTunes!
Next week, Christian and James are in the podKasting hotseat – until then…

Scrolls Book Group: The Heroes
Geek SyndicateTime is ticking away, the latest 'normal' episode in in editorial limbo and we haven't yet recorded our usual Christmas mayhem, so here's another Book Group episode to keep you all going. The Heroes could perhaps be described as Sharpe's Waterloo done fantasy-style. Joe Abercrombie uses it to explore the subject of heroism with all its wrinkles and contradictions. Set in the same world as the acclaimed First Law Trilogy, Abercrombie introduces a whole new batch characters in such a way that enables new readers to get straight into it, whilst rewarding long-time fans with a few familiar faces. If you haven't read his stuff before, we're talking a gritty fantasy adventure, full of dark humour and harsh justice. The focus is always on the characters (a particular strength of this author), with vigorous prose and a suitably cynical tone.
We recommend you read the book before listening to this episode as Spoilers were pretty much unavoidable. The programme is hosted by Scrolls regulars Dion and Clover, who are joined by Geek Syndicate's very own Barry Nugent and long-time listener Louise Maskill. Louise is an avid reader of Fantasy fiction, works as a free-lance editor and has just published her own book about Sussex Dialect (with a similar Norfolk one on the way.) She is currently working on her first novel. Publishers, take note.If you want to carry on the conversation, you can post your comments, thoughts and alternative viewpoints under this article. We welcome your feedback. Taking a leaf from the Comic Book Outsiders, we're actually going to start letting you all know in advance what books are coming up. (Yes, we have been THAT stupid) With that in mind, you may wish to pick up or re-read American Gods by Neil Gaiman in time for our February episode. We always like to involve YOU in the book group, so let us know if you want to take part in that episode. Don't fancy that one? Then put on your thinking cap and send us the name of the book you would like to discuss. You can e-mail us directly at scrolls@hotmail.co.uk or tweet @Dion_Scrolls if you prefer. Who knows, it could be you joining us in the May Book Group.

Small Press Big Mouth - Episode 41
Geek SyndicateWelcome to Episode 41 of Small Press Big Mouth! This episode has Lee and Stace review some comics (I bet you weren't expecting THAT shiz!) and they chat about Thoughtbubble and The British Comic Awards. This episode was recorded before Stace got good and angry about the shitty publicity surrounding the Awards, so is much less ranty than you might be expecting. Sorry if that is any way disappointing to you, she really does like listening to a good rant and suspects you are quite a lot like her secretly, and she will try and get good and ranty about another topic next time.

The Doctor Who PodcastJoin our very own roving reporterJames, Luke from The Minute Doctor Who Podcast and friend of the show and long-time DWP listener Tony as they talk about what they thought of Air Lock – episode 3 of the missing story, Galaxy 4.
The British Film Institute screened the restored episode as part of the Missing Belived Wiped event held on Sunday 2nd December 2012. This was only the second time the episode has been shown in full to an audience in the UK and you can hear the joy asJames, Luke and Tony talk about what can justifiably be described as new Doctor Who, despite it being first transmitted on BBC1 forty-seven years ago!

Episode 101 - Blathering Blathereen
Traveling the VortexIn this week’s episode we take a departure from Doctor Who (well, somewhat) to review the third season of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Our review of the whole series, story by story.
Also, our reaction and input in news out this week about Jenna-Louise Coleman and how her character in Asylum of the Daleks relates (or doesn’t relate rather) to the rest of Series 7.
And of course your feedback. Enjoy!
