In this week’s show we flip last week’s topic on its ear and discuss the question: Is Davros better of without the Daleks?

We try to answer that by exploring what we know of the creator of the Daleks.

But leading into that discussion, we review the Big Finish Productions story, Davros, produced during the 40th anniversary year of Doctor Who. We’ll give our impression of that story.

And, per usual, we’ll discuss some news of the week, but not before we provide our reviews of the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the recently released, Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's a drab old hospital where the porters are metal, the doctors are Goths and the burglars are New Romantics.

The Doctor wins a fight, Nyssa loses her skirt and Tegan draws the short straw, what with Turlough staring at her posterior and the extras revealing her upper assets.

Did Olvir train at the Wayne Sleep Combat Academy?

Is the Doctor's creepy CCTV standard TARDIS issue?

Do the Vanir have enough dog poop bags to last until their next Ocado delivery?

This week, The Five Faces of Delusion take a look at two stories from Jon Pertwee’s final season. With “Invasion of the Dinosaurs” we show how, if you look beyond the ropey models and the heavy “Eastenders” influences, this story is essentially Malcolm Hulke doing to the Communist Party of Great Britain what Robert Holmes did to the Inland Revenue with “The Sun Makers”. With “Planet of the Spiders” we draw a direct line from this story to the twin literary masterpieces “Flowers for Algernon” and “Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH”.

Along the way, we look at how Rick James was knocked off the top spot he’d occupied since “The Mutants”. We question whether one’s attitude to the Third Doctor’s authoritarianism changes with the onset of fatherhood. We explain how The Whomobile was the Wonderbra of its day. And we poke our noses into Richard Franklin’s political career.

"What is this horrendous place?"

Well, Nyssa, it's Terminus - a place to which Bor was presumably drawn by nominative determinism.

It's a drab old hospital where the porters are metal, the doctors are Goths and the burglars are New Romantics.

The Doctor wins a fight, Nyssa loses her skirt and Tegan draws the short straw, what with Turlough staring at her posterior and the extras revealing her upper assets.

Did Olvir train at the Wayne Sleep Combat Academy?

Is the Doctor's creepy CCTV standard TARDIS issue?

Do the Vanir have enough dog poop bags to last until their next Ocado delivery?

Well, after the lads had finished recording, the news broke that Peter Capaldi announced that he was leaving the role of the Doctor. Despite being caught on the hop, this not entirely unexpected turn of events never the less shocked certain fans but also there was the earth shattering news that Sir John Hurt sadly passed away and we also lost Philip Bond.

But once the news is discussed, it's down to business with their review of the Target novelisation of The Curse of Peladon by Brian Hayles. This is story is held in high regard by both Phil and Paul and never more relevant than it has ever been, so it was with some trepidation that Paul approached this story as he didn't want to get caught out by an appearance of King Peladon's thigh boots!
