The more podcasts we do the more I think we should just do The Avengers.

So one day I was just walking along right, and then this girl just pops out of nowhere and stabs me! And then she uses this glove and brings me back and I’m like, what the heck. Well then I was gone again, but while I was gone she stabbed me. Again! And brought me back and so on and so forth anyway long story short I can’t die anymore. It’s They Keep Killing Suzie, written by Paul Tomlin and Dave McCulloch  and aired on December 3, 2006.

    Show-notes
2:11: Yeah, they’re still putting Tom Clancy’s name on the covers of “his” books. They do credit the actual writers too though.
17:32: If you want to listen to us talk about The Prisoner, Sapphire and Steel, and other classic sci-fi shows, check out Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast, our classic sci-fi podcast
43:08: Here’s the article about the standing car idea. Pretty neat.
    48:00: Headache by Julio Cortázar
56:52: Wow I found it. And Shia La Beouf is in it.
1:08:48: The 2006 Life on Mars is an original show. There was no previous version.

    14:48 (GMT) - 16 Aug 2020

A bit of holiday advice from the Green Cathedral: better a staycation in Blighty than a sojourn on Uxarieus, a planet more miserable than Raymond Cusick at a Dalek memorabilia auction.

But this monochrome blob of clay is surprisingly sought after, with hairy hippies and corporate breadheads alike fighting to the death over it. And perhaps the indigenous residents might even feel they have a claim to the land. Not that anyone cares about that, of course.

As well as providing mud, rain and a single flower, Uxarieus offers a mother lode of the very mineral that the twelvty squillion residents of 25th Century Earth desperately need and the very eff-off WMD the Master evilly craves.

So, to this end, the future Rev Magister pretends to be an Adjudicator while the wiggy Cap'n Dent tries to put the willies up the colonists with rubbish robots and home videos of his pet gecko.

Throw in a crap puppet, prune-faced priests, over-Botoxed primitives and a prescient nod to a taboo TV host and we have something of a carnival of monsters.

But did Jim and Martin warm to the wet February clay pit that is the Colony In Space or did it leave them colder than Terry Walsh's wobbly bits?

    Listen to find out!

We also review the audiobooks of The Cybermen and Paradise Towers. Find us on Spotify too.

TDP 949: Star Cops Mars 2 from @Bigfinish

    Tin Dog Podcast

    Direct Podcast Download

    08:00 (GMT) - 16 Aug 2020

This title was released in July 2020. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until August 31st 2020, and on general sale after this date. It's the near future, and mankind has expanded its presence in space. Maintaining law and order beyond Earth is the responsibility of the International Space Police Force, known colloquially as the Star Cops. Their leader is Commander Nathan Spring. There are no Star Cops on Mars, and Nathan Spring intends to put that right. He travels to the red planet hoping to rally the colonists’ support for setting up an ISPF office, but he faces resistance from those who feel Mars has no need of police. Soon, though, Nathan and his officers are involved in incidents of theft, violence and murder. They may get the chance to prove they’re needed, if they can get through their investigations alive. 2.4 Bodies of Evidence by Andrew Smith On the moon, shortly before Nathan, Kenzy and Devis leave for Mars, disaster strikes when the shuttle Ganymede crash lands on the lunar surface. The tragedy becomes something more sinister when Priya finds dismembered bodies hidden in the shuttle. But attempts to investigate are obstructed by higher authorities on Earth. Before Nathan departs for Mars, he instructs Priya and Paul to investigate the crash, in defiance of his superiors’ orders. If they don’t find the evidence they need, it could be the end of all their careers. 2.5 Human Kind by Helen Goldwyn A scared medic, on the run from her colony, seeks the help of the Star Cops. She offers information about a crime, but she demands legal immunity, and guarantees for her safety before she’ll talk. A visitor from Earth seems particularly determined to stop the Star Cops gaining a foothold on Mars and calls a meeting of colony leaders in an attempt to end their efforts once and for all. When one of his officers is kidnapped, Nathan begins to wonder who he can trust on this planet. 2.6 The Highest Ground by Andrew Smith The conspiracy is revealed, and its leader is desperate to silence the Star Cops. An armed squad closes in on Nathan, his officers and their Martian allies, leading to a siege in the shadow of Olympus Mons, the highest mountain in the solar system. And a violent confrontation on its slopes. It’s time for some to decide where their loyalties truly lie before it’s too late...

Episode 85 - With our 'normal' reality in lockdown and frankly a bit pants, Rob and Mark go all Sliders (the TV show not the small burgers) and use our fanwank powers to discuss many ‘what if’ scenarios about Doctor Who as suggested by you our wonderful listeners!!! What if Ray Cusick hadn't designed the Daleks? What if Zoe had stayed on for Season 7? How about Mary Tamm as the 5th Doctor? What does the tv landscape look like if The Dark Dimension is made? And was Pigbin Josh the Watcher all along? All this, plus recommendations on 'family friendly' comedy films of the 1980's, the length of Rob's new 'rocking' lockdown mullet and will Mark's latest attempts at 'humour' finally make the Indiana Jones of film collecting hand over some 'artefacts'? (hot tip - no!)
