Hot Take Cutaway
The Doctor Who ShowRob and Dave found themselves with a bit of a problem during January.
Listener feedback was pouring in, and two large-ish news stories had broken, yet the regular episode scheduled for the end of January was recorded at the tail-end of 2020, in-person, with the 42 to Doomsday podcast lads. As such, it didn't include any of the new material.
Should they wait until the episode at the end of February to talk through it all? The news would be a bit old by then, and there might be even more letters to add to the pile. It didn't seem very ideal.
So here, for one week only, the guys tackle the two biggest pieces of Doctor Who news at present, as well as presenting a range of listener emails; most commenting on the recent Revolution of the Daleks.

Episode 154: The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances OR Urchin Squad Goals
PodcasticaLondon 1941! There’s a war on, there’s a con on, and someone’s looking for his mum. With these stories, the Moff arrives in signature Moff style with commonplace items turned scary, a deeply emotional family story, and an answer telegraphed well ahead of time. Plus, we get the introduction of Captain Jack! John & Taylor start to add to their collection of 9th Doctor reviews by adding the quite enjoyable duo of The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances! A classic tale of spooky stuff from the Moff with a touching family tale within. And, could this possibly be the happiest ending of any Doctor Who story?

Roy's Rocket RadioLast time, I was so excited that I forgot to actually talk about what happened in the trailer. Sorry about that. In this episode, I rectify that mistake by expanding my thoughts about the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer. I also do the same for The Mandalorian trailer.

Episode 38: Regression of the Daleks
Something WhoAfter Richard welcomes special guest Gav Rymill to the Something Who bunker deep under the ruins of London, we settle into a discussion with Paul and Giles about two Dalek invasion stories: First Doctor tale The Dalek Invasion of Earth and the latest 13th Doctor adventure Revolution of the Daleks.
Gav is unique among guests to Something Who in having provided us with his own remix of the episode and you can thank him for the fact that this runs at less than two hours, while retaining all the key moments, when my original edit was considerably longer.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
Gav's book Doctor Who: Dalek Combat Training Manual can be found here (other retailers are available) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785945327/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_fabc_FxBdGbD82685Z
Also find his excellent YouTube series Terry Nation Army here: https://youtube.com/user/Dalek6388
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.

137: The Dalek Invasion of Earth
The Krynoid PodcastYou may think life can’t get much worse at the moment but locked-down Brexity Britain looks positively idyllic compared to Blighty under the rubber skirt of Dalek rule.
This septic isle is overrun with motorised dustbins, headphone-wearing dullards who’ve really let themselves go and the most unrealistic pet since K9.
The Doctor falls on his coccyx, Susan falls in love, Ian falls out of a door and Babs falls in with a rough crowd and TWOKs a dustcart. Luckily, a fratricidal fellow rebel lends two hands and Mr Rumbold lends his ears but the perma-grumpy Mrs Briers fails to stop Babs succumbing to crones.
Would you buy a used mattress from a Dalek?
Is the entry exam for the Roboman Academy too difficult?
How many floating corpses would it take to put you off a glass of water?
And did Jim and Martin find The Dalek Invasion of Earth to be a glorious triumph or a misbegotten folly?
Listen to find out!
The lads also review the audiobooks of Fury From The Deep and The Awakening.
Also available on Spotify.
