Episode 156: Candy Davros
Trust Your DoctorIn this story Davros acts as some insane Willy Wonka knockoff.
Are you happy? We’re happy. Definitely happy. No insane dictator holding a gun to our backs making sure we’re happy. Nope. Definitely happy. The Happiness Patrol, written by Graeme Curry and aired in November of 1988.
Show-notes:
1:32 The Thatcher “regime” lasted from 1979 to 1990. Apparently there’s no term limit or term of office for UK PMs, but it’s complicated.
11:31 Learn more about that here. Or don’t. I don’t care.
38:36 This mascot. I’ll never be able to look at this thing now without thinking that it’s some dangerous homicidal maniac that kills with a smile on its face.

Metebelis 2 #30 - Over Egging the Cyber Pudding
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2The Cybermen stories from the 1980s are revisited by the Metebelis 2 on this week's show. Find the answers to questions such as: Which cyber stories work and which fall short? Has Earthshock held up over time for David? Why do the cybermen fare so poorly in Gallifrey's Death Zone? What could go wrong with the most continuity heavy story ever? And, does Ben like jazz? Plus, the two chat about how eager they are anticipating the 'excellent' fanzine, Vworp Vworp volume 3. Intro and outro music are excerpts from the incidental music score by Malcolm Clarke from "Earthshock".

Episode 32: Swashing Buckles
Something WhoAfter it turns out that Richard isn't an android after all (who knew?), he welcomes back Paul and Giles to look at a pair of stories that we might describe as historical romps: 4th Doctor story The Androids of Tara, followed by 12th Doctor adventure Robot of Sherwood. Except, of course, that Tara is set in the future.
Despite the original conversation lasting over two hours, we've got the edited version down to 90 minutes or so and you can be sure that you've missed absolutely nothing.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.
