Hello and welcome to this special episode of Waffle On Podcast in which Meds and Kell do a film commentary over the mixed reviewed film Star Wars The Phantom Menace. Its a rather tongue in cheek episode and does contain some swearing, mainly when Jar Jar Binks turns up.

Tired of listening to podcasts about Series Eight, Steven Moffat, and Peter Capaldi?  Then wait no more, because we exist to go against the grain of the Doctor Who podcasting community.  It's just a few more weeks until Christmas, so we're going to do things Casey Kasem style until then and dedicate some time to analyzing those episodes which tend to get the short shrift because of their odd placement in the show's schedule, existing in the limbo between two separate seasons and airing at a time when we have other things on our minds.  That's right, we're turning our sights to the Christmas episodes.

We'll begin this journey in 2008, back when RTD was the showrunner, David Tennant was the Doctor, and most people on this side of the pond thought David Morrissey was probably the full name of that weird English pop star.  This episode we'll be talking about "The Next Doctor".

Oops. Turns out that GarageBand for the iPad is only capable of recording podcasts that are ten minutes long. And so we suddenly had to switch to Brendan's iMac. Can you spot the difference in sound quality? (If so, sorry. I blame George Pastell.)

Well, we spent ages discussing Victoria's wardrobe, and said hardly anything about the story itself. But, frankly, we regret nothing!

Of course, Buddhism and Psychedelia were inseparable in the 1960s, thanks to Timothy Leary.

The News

More Doctor Who Experience news this week but more positive than recent. The Studio Set Tours which were due to finish at the end of November have now been extended to December 14th which is great news if you wanted to check it out but couldn't make it this month. You can book tickets as usual on the DWE site.

The BBC have opened up a couple of auctions on eBay to raise money for this years Children in Need. The first is a set visit to one of the episodes next year for series 9 where you'll be treated like a VIP and get to meet the whole cast and crew etc. The bid is already at over PS5000 but it looks absolutely worth it and all the money goes to the Children in Need charity. Take a look at the auction here. The second auction is to spend the day with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales as they rehearse for the Symphonic Spectacular, again another great day up for grabs, check it out here.

Finally, tomorrow night's Children in Need program is to have a slot to feature Doctor Who which is something the show has done every year since 2005. They're usually great little shorts and often feature a star guest or similar so look out for it during the program.

"Death in Heaven" Review

The Series finale crept round deceivingly early, where has series 8 gone already?!? Last week's Dark Water was overall very good but does the conclusion offer the same? Find out as we discuss the plot, the good, the bad and the, well, not so good.

This week, they come to the end of the first season of the Divergent Universe, with The Twilight Kingdom by Will Shindler. It's a ride of ups and downs, this Divergent Universe thing. Will this season finale give them the answers and direction they are craving from this new universe, or will it be just another random adventure that could have taken place anywhere? Eh, well, at least it's got a giant cave system monster.  In addition, there's listener feedback on the Doctor's love life! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got caves. Lots and lots of caves. It's like it's 1983 in here.
