110. MAUREEN O'BRIEN - A Woman Ahead Of Her Time
Doctor Who : The Sirens of AudioMaureen O'Brien was the first "new" companion to replace a departing Doctor Who companion back in 1965. Vicki was a replacement to Susan, the Doctor's grandaughter, and she instantly lit up the screen with her enthusiasm and chemistry with the regular cast.
Maureen returned to the role of Vicki on audio with Big Finish in 2007.
In this interview Maureen reveals how she came to be acting in the theatre and then transitioned to television with Doctor Who, her relationship with William Hartnell and the rest of the cast, her writing and how she came to be working with Big Finish.
Thanks for chatting with us Maureen!

3.15 The EDAs - 25 Glorious Years
Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthTHIS episode of Pieces of Eighth is released on June 2, 2022 - exactly 25 years to the day since BBC Books began publishing original Doctor Who fiction.
Sadly, Becca's still not able to join us due to the difficult news she was given last week, but with her blessing, we're carrying on and our good friend Matt Michael has stepped in - with just two hours' notice - to help bring this episode to you.
We discuss the launch of the Eighth Doctor Adventures range, featuring exclusive interviews with Steve Cole, his assistant Lesley Levene, and James Macey from Black Sheep, who were responsible for the cover designs, the latter two giving their first Doctor Who interviews.
Kenny also opens up his personal archive, as he and Matt bring you the original BBC press releases and publicity material which were given out to the media back in 1997 -isn't it a good job Kenny NEVER throws away anything?
It's our longest episode yet, at 132 minutes!

Audio 22: Chekhov’s Firebomb (The Fearmonger)
Trust Your DoctorIt’s The Fearmonger written by Jonathon Blum and released on February 4, 2000.
Show-notes:
0:47: Big Finish dot com back in the 90s. Not owned by whom we currently know as Big Finish. Probably.
3:20: Good news, the show-notes guy is here to give you a link to The Timescales for The Fearmonger.
11:45: In case you haven’t heard, or have and just forgot or something, Ace is returning in the third and final Whittaker special special, alongside who other than Tegan. I would say that this is a pretty ace move on behalf of Chris Chibnall, but only Ace says “ace” with that usage, so I’ll just say it’s kind of neat.
18:30: Here’s the cover of The Fearmonger for you to get into the mood while listening to the podcast.
24:30: Department C19 was a major player in the books, apparently.
27:47: If you for some inexplicable reason want to hear us talk more about Jacqueline Pearce, and Paul Darrow for that matter, check out Zenith: A Blake’s 7 Podcast, our Blake’s 7 podcast.
45:30: For all the masochists out there.

Episode 28 - Carnival of Monsters (with Pete Lambert)
Doctor Who LiteratureIt's January 1977 and the start of another year of Target books. It's the third straight Terrance Dicks book, and the third Third Doctor book out of the past four. For a slim book, just 119 pages of text, Terrance manages to make a lot of changes from the TV serial.
My guest this week is a returning guest, Pete Lambert (@Prof_Quiteamess). We discuss the linguistics of Polari, the evolution of Jo Grant, and whether or not Drashigs are meant to scurry, or to slither.
In the second half of the program, Jason does a deep dive into the book's text compared to the TV episodes, and finds the changes good. What's the Third Doctor's favorite alcoholic beverage? What extra detail does Terrance add when describing the Doctor's nose? And, if it's 1926, what does that mean for the UNIT dating controversy?
And don't miss Jason's recent moderation of a Trap One episode on the Galaxy 4 DVD animation.
Don't forget to tune in next week for a non-Terrance Dicks, 4th Doctor novelization, in what may prove to be the biggest episode of Doctor Who literature to date!

Who Gat?
WHO 37 - A Doctor Who PodcastYeah, we’re a few weeks late, but we don’t have Patreon supporters, so we didn’t feel the need to drop everything to record a podcast when all the shit went down. So this is the inevitable reaction and discussion of the casting of Ncuti Gatwa as the next Doctor, David Tennant and Catherine Tate returning for the 60th Anniversary Special, and the new “Rose”. We also respond to listener feedback (a rarity!) and share some stories about meeting Doctor Who celebrities on the con circuit. This episode of the podcast is brought to you by the word “moist” and by the font “comics sans”.
