Even academics searching printed word
Who's He?In this weeks show it's part two of the lads commentary for Castrovalva, episodes 3 and 4. Yes, as this was recorded last week, the trio bravely continue in the sweltering London heat, drinking wine and talking nonsense as usual. However, it appears that the heat gets to Phil as he completely misses the point of the Shardovan and becomes attached to a Scotsman.
And in a hastily inserted news section, another series 8 trailer, Philip Morris and the ongoing talk of missing episodes, news on the Deep Breath DVD release in North America, the enormous DVD/Blu-ray 50th Anniversary boxset and the DWAS honour Verity Lambert.

Radio Free Skaro #432 - Down and Out in San Diego
Radio Free SkaroWith San Diego Comic Con’s annual media megashow winding down, Radio Free Skaro brought in a Special Report from Nerdist editor and all around fine fellow Kyle Anderson as our man on the scene to let us know about the Big! Who! News! almost live from the source. Well, it turns out there hasn’t been very much news to speak of Who-wise, with the BBC likely focusing their energies on launching their world tour, and….showing us a new 15 second trailer. And……showing the premiere in cinemas worldwide! Holy cats! Despite the dearth of SDCC news, rest assured our list is chockablock full of items of interest, and as if that weren’t enough, we also have the last Fluid Links for quite some time! Madness!

The Ood Cast S06E02 - Time Gentleman, Please
The Ood Cast“It’s a wonderful idea. The Doctor stops running is a wonderful idea.”
In which we wonder why daleks can’t shoot straight, bring Christmas to July, invent new kinds of cybermen & experiment with Scottish accents.
Reviews: The Time of the Doctor
Air Date: 25th December 2013
Song: “It’s Time (of the Doctor)” based on “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons
Additional notes: This was the first time we had recorded together for 6 months. It was so lovely to all be in the same room again and we had a cracking time. Laura’s impression of Handles was so funny that we kept spoiling the take by laughing over the top of her recording. We are professionals.

Why Can’t I Wear Trousers?
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis episode, Brendan, Richard and Nathan tackle the difficult subjects of ants and fraternity as they discuss three ant-astic stories from the middle of Doctor Who’s second season: The Romans, The Web Planet and The Crusade. So tune up your lyres, pull up a dormouse, and listen along. There’s a bit of that cold peacock left in the fridge, I think.
Buy the stories!
The Rescue/The Romans (Amazon US) (Amazon UK)
The Web Planet (Amazon US, but it’s insanely expensive, for some reason) (Amazon UK, ah, that’s better)
The Crusade soundtrack on Audible (Amazon US) (Amazon UK). The two extant episodes can be found on the Lost in Time box set. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK)
The Romans
The comprehensive and definitive Wikipedia articles on Nero and The Great Fire of Rome
Who on earth is Dot Cotton? And why does she look so much like that narrow-hipped vixen Lady Eleanor?
The incomparably brilliant I, Claudius can be watched in full on YouTube.
The Big Finish audio The One Doctor, starring Colin Baker, Bonnie Langford and TV’s Nero Christopher Biggins
Spartacus (1960). The hilariously homoerotic scene Richard mentions can be found on YouTube, as an extract from the film The Celluloid Closet (1995).
The Web Planet
An excellent article on The Web Planet’s ratings and audience appreciation figures
A free book version of Paul Ernst’s Raid on the Termites on Project Gutenberg
Domingo Gonzales’s The Man in the Moone on Wikipedia
The incomparable Georges Méliès, inventor of special effects on film. His most famous film is La voyage dans la lune.
William Blake’s Auguries of Innocence (“God appears & God is light”)
New Age writer Eckhart Tolle
The Gaia Hypothesis, which was just beginning to be developed by James Lovelock at about the time that The Web Planet was first broadcast
The Big Finish audio Return to the Web Planet, starring Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Sam Kelly
The lovely Barbara Joss, who played Nemini. Her book My Left Breast: How Breast Cancer Transformed My Life is out of print, but you can see its Goodreads page here.
The Crusade
Doctor Who and the Crusaders by David Whitaker (Amazon US) (Amazon UK).
More Wikipedia goodness: this time about Pope (Keith) Urban II, The Third Crusade, and Scheherazade.
