Episode 90 : Doctor Who and the Silurians
The Untempered Schism PodcastWe take time out from rebuilding our server (and by 'we' that really mean Jay) to look back at the second Third Doctor adventure. This one really has all the pieces you've come to expect, lots of shooting, things blowing up, Bessie and rubbery costumes. All in all a rather fun romp with the Doctor and Doctor Liz Shaw.

A very old friend came by today
Who's He?Once again Phil and Paul turn their attentions towards the Doctors adventures in audio with a look at a 7th Doctor story from Big Finish titled The Dark Flame. But is this one any good? Is this a story that will make those who dislike Sylvester McCoys portrayal of the Doctor change their minds or merely serve as another example as to why they dislike him so?
And in a very short news section this week, British Pathe release old Movietone News reels containing very some fairly tenuous links to Doctor Who, the Hugo Award 2014 nominations are revealed in which Doctor Who dominates and as it's a slow news week, the latest news in John Barrowmans attempts at dropping hints that he'd like another series of Torchwood and appear again in Doctor Who.

The Others Episode 7 The Five Doctors Part One
The Others PodcastThe Five Doctors-Part One! To lose is to win and he who wins shall drink! For no apparent reason The Others have decided to look at one of their favourite stories, The Five Doctors. As they discuss in this first part covering Part One & Part Two, this story really hit a sweet spot with them. It has influenced the technology they buy and seems to be a story that has been watched multiple times. This is probably a statement that applies to many fans of Doctor Who!
They discuss when this story was shown on PBS and how it was made available to multiple markets in the US on the anniversary date of November 23rd, 1983. It is an interesting discussion spanning various discussions about viewing habits, beta tapes, bowling and Totinos pizza. There is also discussion about what an older Doctor is like when they come back to a series that is no longer their show. What part of their character is resurrected in an anniversary adventure like this? It's lovely and fun discussion that is not to be missed. Although not strictly a commentary, The Five Doctors is played in the background while the discussion is going on. The episodic version of The Five Doctors was used for this recording. We are The Others.

TDP 384: The Crooked Man - 4th Doctor Big Finish 3.3
Tin Dog PodcastFrom the big finish site Winter at the seaside. The wind blows. The waves crash. People are dying and a strange spindly figure stalks the cold, deserted streets. A typical holiday for the Doctor and Leela in other words. When they stumble across a grotesque series of murders at the coast, the TARDIS travellers realise the local constabulary is out of its depth. Something supernatural has come to town, something evil. And it all seems to be tied in to a particular young family. Monsters lurk behind strange doors. Tragic secrets wait to be uncovered. And somewhere, deep within, the Crooked Man sits. He is waiting for you. Written By: John DorneyDirected By: Nicholas Briggs

Episode 173 - All I Need is a Miracle Day
Traveling the VortexSorry, again, for the delay in this week’s podcast. As you’ll hear we are still struggling with a few illnesses and conflicts in scheduling.
In this week’s show we take a break from Doctor Who and tackle one of it’s spin-off shows. We give our impressions on the first five parts of Torchwood: Miracle Day.
Also, some of the news of the week, including our first thoughts on the new update for the wonderful game, Doctor Who: Legacy.
Plus, we have a special treat from listener Brenda. It’s something that we enjoyed immensely and we are sure you will, too.
And of course, your feedback!
Hopefully, it was worth the wait.
Enjoy!

Side Trip 14 - FanX Report
Traveling the VortexChrissy turns in another convention report this week. This time she attended the Salt Lake Comic Con – Fan Xperience.
It sounds like it was a fun experience with some very exciting guests, including one late surprise.
She actually framed it as a feedback for this week’s show, but we thought it so special that we felt it deserved it’s own spot on the feed.
Thanks goes out to Chrissy for providing the report!
Enjoy!
