If you're looking for the tasty-goodness of a BBC Past Adventure, then you needn't wait much longer, as our next selection is World Game, a Second Doctor adventure by Terrance Dicks. From the back cover:

The Doctor has been captured and put on trial by his own people -- accused of their greatest crime: interfering with the affairs of other peoples and planets. He is sentenced to exile on Earth. That much is history. But now the truth can be told -- the Doctor did not go straight into exile. First the Time Lords have a task for him.

From the trenches of the Great War to the terrors of the French Revolution, the Doctor finds himself on a mission he does not want with a companion he does not like, his life threatened at every turn. Will the Doctor survive to serve his sentence? Or will this adventure prove to be his Waterloo?

Regardless of what you think of Terrance Dicks' talent as a writer, you have to admit that this one sounds pretty compelling. World Game is slotted nicely between "The War Games" and "Spearhead from Space", a moment in Doctor Who history some fans refer to as "Season 6B", a period created from the fallout over debates about exactly when "The Two Doctors" took place. (Jamie never travels alone with the Doctor, yet they do in "The Two Doctors"...so when in the name of canon did that story take place?)

Leaping forth from behind the sofa, an army of Dr Who actors and writers have run rampage at this years Frightfest. Andy has survived the experience and is ready to risk his sanity by telling us all about it. We also review James Moran’s new movie “Cockneys vs Zombies” and give a spoiler free preview of his upcoming movie “Towerblock”. (Both packed with Dr Who alumni such as Russell Torvey, Richard Briers, Honor Blackman and Michelle Ryan).

And if that isn’t enough we delve into the creation of the Sontaran’s with our review of the Big Finish Lost Story: The First Sontarans.

This week we'll be crossing the time streams and discussing the first episode of the 1970 seventh season of Classic Doctor Who "Spearhead from Space".

The Doctor returns to Earth along with a swarm of plastic meteorites which carry inside of them energy to power the Nestene Consciousness. The Nestene is an entity which can animate plastic, and takes over a toy factory as part of a larger plan to infiltrate the world's governments with plastic replicas of their leaders. Meanwhile they've created an army of Autons to terrorize the public and take out its enemies.

The Doctor works with new Companion Liz Shaw and returning Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart to unravel the plot before it's too late. Since the Autons are not taken out by guns, the heroes develop a special weapon that emits a high frequency signal which breaks the link between the Autons and the Nestene Consciousness.

There is a struggle between the Doctor and the Nestene Consciousness' tentacles after they discover their secret weapon doesn't affect it. Fortunately Liz re-calibrates it to a new frequency which DOES work, just in the nick of time.

And in all of this chaos you’ll be as confused as the Doctor when he asks, “Dude, where’s my shoes?”
