#243 - Stendhal Syndrome
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Ben is in England where he had the opportunity to visit the "Adventures in Time and Space - 60 Years of Doctor Who Art" exhibition at the Weston Museum in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. This impressive collection spans the show's history and features original art from novelisations, VHS covers, annuals, and other visual treasures, including works from Chris Achilléos, Andrew Skilleter, Roy Knipe, and Colin Howard. Ben has shared some pictures he took of the overall exhibit and artwork on his Instagram, including Knipe's "Death to the Daleks" Target cover and Achilléos' "Loch Ness Monster", "Kklak", and "Seeds of Doom" covers. Plus the portait of Ace from 'Silver Nemesis' done in the style of Thomas Gainsborough. In addition to being agog as a fan, Ben also shares his curatorial view of the exhibit's strengths and weaknesses. Opening and closing music is by Dudley Simpson from his score to The Android Invasion. We recorded this episode on 1 April 2024.

Jodie Whittaker / Dave's Big Day Out 2
The Doctor Who ShowOver the years, whenever Dave has seen a notable Doctor Who alum at an event, we've endeavoured to switch on the microphones and grab his thoughts in a special, standalone episode of the show.
A year ago this was Sophie Aldred in the original 'Dave's Big Day Out' episode, but prior to that, episodes like, 'When Dave Met Chris' have also entertained listeners who couldn't attend the events.
Today, we talk to Dave immediately upon his return home from Supanova where he saw, and interacted with, Jodie Whittaker. And also caught the panel for Jango/Boba Fett himself, Temuera Morrison.
Enjoy our chat, and contact us anytime at hello@theDWshow.net

Episode 109A - Harry Sullivan's War (with Jim Sangster)
Doctor Who Literature1986 saw the release of the first two Companions of Doctor Who novels, original full-length books rather than novelizations of Doctor Who TV serials. There would only be one more after this one. Harry Sullivan's War was written by Ian Marter, who died tragically young, on his own 42nd birthday, just a couple of weeks after the book's release.
Jim Sangster rejoins me as the guest for this week's book -- and also wrote this week's theme song!
A video for Jim's son is found here. Song written by Jim Sangster and sung by Antony Owen.
The first 8 minutes are an audio essay about the 1986 baseball season. If you're not a baseball fan, you will be after hearing this essay (or not).
Recent guest Dale Smith recently penned an essay about Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma, the first Companions of Doctor Who novel, covered on this show (by Dale Smith!) just last month.

TDP 1245: Doctor Who 1.2. Doctor Who: Sontarans vs Rutans: The Children of the Future
Tin Dog PodcastTDP 1245: Doctor Who 1.2. Doctor Who: Sontarans vs Rutans: The Children of the Future This title was released in February 2024. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 March 2024, and on general sale after this date. The war between the Sontarans and the Rutans has been going on for millennia. And is likely to continue for millennia more. A terrible conflict with no care for consequences or collateral damage. Billions have died with no end in sight. The Brigadier is used to the Doctor acting strangely, but this time there’s something decidedly different about the whole affair. As he looks into the Time Lord's odd activities outside of UNIT, there's a mystery that'll take Lethbridge-Stewart to a site very familiar to Sarah Jane Smith. Can the Brigadier trust his old friend? Who are his mysterious new allies? And is the future of humanity really at stake? A Sontaran threat could spell the end of their long-standing friendship... and the entire planet! Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart © Haisman & Lincoln and used under licence. With thanks to Hannah Haisman and Candy Jar.

TDP 1246 Doctor Who The Ninth Doctor Adventures Buried Threats Review
Tin Dog Podcastreview This title was released in February 2024. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 30 April 2024, and on general sale after this date. Not all perils faced by the Doctor are as obvious as an alien invasion. Some threats have been buried for millennia, some for mere centuries, and some hide inside a troubled mind. But whenever he finds injustice, danger, or just an irresistible mystery, the Doctor won’t stop digging until the truth is uncovered. 3.1 A Theatre of Cruelty by Lisa McMullin Someone or something is manipulating the dreams of French playwright Antonin Artaud. As Artaud’s nightmares are made manifest, the Doctor is compelled to intervene. Otherwise, Artaud’s new idea for an immersive theatre could become a ticket to literally die for. 3.2 The Running Men by Mark Wright The TARDIS brings the Doctor to 21st Century Halifax, alongside police Sergeant Ambika Desai, as they investigate a mysterious death. The trail leads to the Hebble Piazza and an unscrupulous developer, as the Doctor uncovers the town’s distant past – and the infamous Halifax gibbet. The Running Men are rising from history! 3.3 Ancient History by Matt Fitton Professor Bernice Summerfield is delving into the mystery of the Korravin, a mighty warrior horde, vanished overnight. But her expedition seems jinxed. And when a familiar blue box appears, Benny knows they’re in trouble. As ancient history resurfaces, the Doctor wants to keep some things buried - but Benny’s an expert at digging up the past.

Horror of Fang Rock - Review
This episode Phil and Scott settled down to watch the new and shiny version of Horror of Fang Rock from the recent Season 15 blu-ray collection. New effects, screaming ladies and plenty of fog is the order of the day with Tom Baker and Louise Jameson on fine form.
They also go through the number of changes made to the special effects (spoilers ahoy!) and Phil takes Scott through a quick potted history of producer Graham Williams and touches upon how awkward Tom Baker was towards him.
But what's this? The BBC also release a new trailer for the upcoming series of Doctor Who, along with all 8 episode titles. Of course, the lads talk about that as well.

PodcasticaWe accept that the animated recreations of missing Doctor Who episodes can be a little hit and miss at times. And, while we weren't bowled over by the animation this time, there's still lots to enjoy. So grab your air tanks (or just become a fish person) and join us under the sea for The Underwater Menace!

Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones
The Doctor Who ShowStar Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones was released in 2002 and tonight, The Doctor Who Show team examines it in what must rate as one of the coldest of cold takes ever committed to a digital recording.
What are our memories of the movie on release? What are our thoughts on it now, after a 2024 re-watch?
If you’ve got an hour to spare, sit back, relax and join us in an ALTERNATE GALAXIES episode that travels to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away to try and review the film, once and for all, with no contemporary distractions.
We reviewed Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace last month and will also be reviewing Star Wars Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in April.

Who's He? Podcast 455 | I'm your Doctor when in need | The Caves of Androzani Review
Who's He?In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast....
Review - The Caves of Androzani
What has taken these two so long to get around to talking about this story? In episode in which Phil has the occasional disagreement with his microphone stand, Paul and he discuss The Caves of Androzani, Peter Davison's final story in the role of the Doctor. While considered an all time classic by just about everyone, will Phil and Paul find fault? And just why didn't the Doctor take his medicine early?
The news is also covered as we get Paul's take on the method in which the new series is being released on iPlayer first and their reaction to Steven Moffat returning to write for Doctor Who.
But they don't talk about the new trailer as this was recorded way in advance of that!
