After the dissertation on the Ice Warriors, they make it to the discussion of the story, featuring the many voice talents of Ashley, Josh's cliffhanger bias, and amazing facts like, yes, Peter Davison was actually married to the woman who gave birth to his daughter! Now that's the kind of detail you can be assured to get with The Oncoming Storm each week, every week! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we have, well... you know. Don't make me say it.

It's Con season! Which means that Ashley and Josh are actually able to see each other in person for a change! They met up at the annual Timegate convention in Atlanta, GA, where they tried to avoid looking too creepy in hanging around the young Amelia Pond herself, Caitlin Blackwood. Mad Norwegian Press's Lars Pearson received no such consideration, and after long days of discussing everything Doctor Who, Ashley and Josh kidnapped Lars in order to force him to discuss the forthcoming AHistory. We dive into the challenges of putting together such a book. Just when Lars thinks its safe, Josh pulls out the thumbscrews to force answers about Fluid Links and Lars's favorite spinoff media. The night ends with the announcement of the podcast's first giveaway, signed copies of the limited Hardback of "This Town Will Never Let Us Go". Listen to find out how to get yourself one of these fine books... FOR FREE!!! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we actually have an honest to God Mad Norwegian! It's not just a stupid tagline!

Listen to find out, as Josh and Ashley talk everything from just how crazy our favorite pepperpots are to the differences in Dalek voice operators, complete with Ashley impressions! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got fascist, genocidal, alien Nazi allegories! And the talking rain.

It's time to play what if in the 9th episode of the Oncoming Storm! Josh and Ashley are covering their first non fiction book, The Nth Doctor by Jean Marc Lofficier. Though, it's not really a non fiction book as much as collection of a bunch of almost fictions, as it looks at the attempts to make a Doctor Who movie in the years leading up the the Paul McGann TV Movie. In their first look at the book, Josh and Ashley discuss the book in general and cover it's background. Once they finish there, it's time to look at the first of the rejected scripts, dubbed "The Return of Varnax". It's... something else. Join Josh and Ashley as they stumble over their French, express their hatred of a well worn gag, and decide the best way to torture and kill furry sidekicks. As mentioned in the last episode of the podcast (you know, the one conveniently located right underneath this!) Josh and Ashley will be doing a live recording at the Timegate convention. In this live episode, we will be talking to Lars Pearson from Mad Norwegian Press and discussing some of our favorite moments and memories from the wilderness years. We'll be talking about our favorite books, audios, and whatever else comes to mind about that creative period. We don't want to just limit it to us though. You can use this thread(or email or Facebook) to share your favorite memories and moments from this time, and we'll read and talk about them in this special episode. But we don't want to limit it to just that! If you have a question you are dying to ask us, or Lars, send it our way and we will answer it! We'll looking forward to hearing from as many of you as possible. We guarantee that it will be read on the episode!

And if you're not sure just who Lars Pearson is, be sure to check out the find books that his publishing company puts out.

A cleaning lady. A child killer. That scary wiccan chick. What do they all have in common? Why, they're all discussed in the 8th Episode of The Oncoming Storm of course! Josh and Ashley are looking at Cat's Cradle: Warhead this week, a novel by former script editor of Doctor Who Andrew Cartmel. With someone who was that close to the television show, it's sure to be just like what we used to watch on the telly right? When you're done laughing at that little ditty, turn on Josh and Ashley as they discuss the beginnings of the"Dark" Doctor, the benfits of ignoring character dialogue, and just what it means if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being "useful" to the Doctor. All this and more, in the exciting 8th episode of The Oncoming Storm! The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got even less cats! There was, like, one page with a cat! It's backstabbing and betrayals in Tudor England! Josh is eating up all of the pure historical goodness, but will Jacqueline Rayner's writing overcome Ashley's inherant dislike of the historical genre? Or did Ashley just listen to the story while making Ice Warrior noises to drown out all of those boring historical dudes? Listen and find out, as correct pronunciation, time paradoxes, and religion in Doctor Who are all discussed in the latest episode of The Oncoming Storm! The Oncoming Storm...This time, we've got ruffled collars... or at least we assume we do. Anytime we see one of those Blackadder episodes from this time everyone's wearing one. • The Oncoming Storm Ep5: NA #5 - Wait, Which Time Zone Are We In Again?

Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 29 minutes and 29 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week, Josh and Ashley are still playing a bit of catchup, so they're only covering one New Adventure this episode, Marc Platt's  Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible. And its a good thing too, because this book is just chock full of paradoxes and multiple time streams and it takes the full strength of your podcaster's miniscule mental capabilities to keep track of it all. Break out the pen and paper kids; you're gonna need a flow chart to follow along with this one. To finish up the episode, Ashley and Josh take a look at their first comic strip, Cat Litter, from DWM # 192. The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got cats! ...Well, not really. What's the deal with all the cat references anyway???

  • The Oncoming Storm Ep4: BF #3&4 - Editorpalooza

Josh and Ashley are back just a week after our last episode in order to make up for the lost week! And if that wasn't dedication enough, Josh struggles through sickness to bring you a new episode, though it does leave him sounding a bit like Harvey Fierstein. This week, your hosts are covering the third and fourth Big Finish Doctor Who adventures. They start off marveling at the work Big Finish put into The Whispers of Terror, by Justin Richards. They end up wondering if The Land of the Dead was hastily put together by a team of chimps working at typewriters. Has anyone ever actually SEEN Stephen Cole? Are your hosts being unkind? Well, Josh probably is, if his Stephen Cole rant is anything to go by. Check out the episode to find out why. The Oncoming Storm... Please nobody ever tell Stephen Cole about this. We swear, we really are nice people.

After a slight delay, Josh and Ashley are back, fighting through spring storms to discuss the final two books in the Timewyrm series. We're tackling Timewyrm: Apocalypse by Nigel Robinson and Timewyrm: Revelation by Paul Cornell. One of these is a fantastic look into the mind of the Doctor, examining his relationship with Ace and his motivations, a book so full of ideas that it takes 70% of the podcast to talk about. The other is Timewyrm: Apocalypse. Join your hosts as they try to wrap their heads around the Doctor's choice in baby names and discuss the motivations of psychotic 8 year olds. The Oncoming Storm... Yes, We would club your head in with a brick if it meant that Paul Cornell would like us.

  • A Slight Delay

    17 March 2012 (1:31pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 0 minutes and 0 seconds

In case anyone is checking out the website and wondering, you've probably figured out by now that there won't be a new episode this week. Ashley's area was hit by some pretty bad storms last week, and as a result his parent's house suffered some major damage. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but there is a lot of clean up and repairs to do. This has left Ashley with not a lot of free time, so we decided to delay the next episode a week. We will be back on the 22nd however! And to show our love for the listeners, we've decided not to delay the following episode so we can get back on schedule. That means two episodes in two weeks! Then we'll be back to our regular schedule. We are sorry for the delay, but we will continue to do our best to maintain a constant schedule for the listeners. Thanks for all the support!

    Josh & Ashley
