It's time for unlucky episode 13, and what better topic for a review for such an episode then the book that Josh dubs the worst New Adventure to be published! Your dutiful hosts Josh and Ashley are setting their sights on Cat's Cradle: Witch Mark for a no holds barred review. Prepare to be dazzled by plot holes galore! Derek Martinus directed six Doctor Who stories over the course of his career, the last one being 1970's Spearhead From Space. Much of his output from the 1960s, sadly, no longer exists in the BBC archives, so when it came time to discuss Martinus in the Miniscope this week, the Three Who Rule were presented with a problem: how do you talk about the visual aspect of Doctor Who episodes that exist today in audio form only? Well, no fear, as Luke from TMDWP is here, casting his expert eye upon some pretty impressive work done by Martinus, a director who first realized the Cybermen, the Ice Warriors, and the Autons, to say nothing of the very first regeneration seen in the series. A more thorough investigation of one of Doctor Who's lesser known directors you will not hear!

This is an episode that neither Paul nor Phil were particuarly interested in watching again even though fandom would tell them this is a good story. Has time changed their minds? Will the comedic aspects of the script cheer them up or will they remain their usual miserable selves? (Well, Phil is the miserable one really).

Running from July 1st at the Fab Cafe in Manchester is a stage adaptation of Robots of Death, the classic 1977 Doctor Who serial written by Chris Boucher. Behind the production is Gareth Kavanagh, and he makes a special appearance on this week’s podKast (with a K) to discuss that and other shows with a Doctor Who theme that are lined up for the summer.

We’ll have full confirmed details later this week for Robots of Death, it’s stage-sequel Storm Mine and an appearance by Philip Martin (Vengeance on Varos) but in the meantime, click play to enjoy!
