Episode 75: Oh, What a Tangled Web of Fear We Weave!
The TARDIS TavernLooks like we survived the end of the world after all.
When you survive an ordeal like that, there’s nothing like a little dose of Patrick Troughton, so we decided to turn around and talk about what we originally intended: that mostly-missing story of the Second Doctor’s era, “The Web of Fear”.
Although five of the six episodes were destroyed after someone at the BBC went on a bender and burned a couple dozen reels of old television, you can see the first episode in all its glory in the “Lost in Time” box set. The remainder is available from BBC audio.
You can follow us on Facebook, send us hate mail at tardistavern@gmail.com, and follow Sean on Twitter via @tardistavern (Steve has a Twitter account too, but he hasn’t used it since March of 2012 so we won’t go there). Oh look, rocks!

Burning Issues 1 - Genesis of the Daleks - All Time Classic or All Time Dud?
The Doctor Who PodcastThis week the first in our series of Burning Issues – unresolved questions posed on the Doctor Who Podcast in previous episodes that we hope to be able to provide answers for.
The first of these is in response to a statement Tom made on a previous DWP – that the classic series story Genesis of the Daleks should be “put in a box and buried”, further stating it was the worst story of the first twenty years of the program.
Such an assertion could not go unchallenged. So we have put Tom on trial in this episode – he must answer for his most heinous crime. The case for the defence and prosecution will be set, then it will be up to you, our wonderful listeners to decide on the verdict. Let us know at feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com“>feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com just where Genesis of the Daleks should sit in the history of the show.

Tim's Take On: Episode 156(Delia Derbyshire Day)
Tim's Take On...Last weekend I travelled a up to Manchester for Delia Derbyshire Day, which was primarily an opportunity to see a documentary about the lady who brought us the original arrangement of the Dr Who theme but also to learn more about this at times illusive figure from the show's early days.
Quite a long intro and outro from me but hopefully the discussion about Delia, her work and the fact that it motivated Canadian filmmaker Kara Blake to produce a documentary about her will be worth the extra long running time this week.
End theme is Dr Who Ultimate title mix (1963-2007)
If you want to send me comments or feedback you can email them to tdrury2003@yahoo.co.uk or contact me on twitter where I'm @tdrury or send me a friend request and your comments to facebook where I'm Tim Drury and look like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/tdrury/3711029536/in/set-72157621161239599/ in case you were wondering.

Dissecting Scrolls Solves Christmas
Geek SyndicateLate? What do you mean, late? We've been here for ages, honest!(Okay, it's a fair cop - but better late than never, eh?)Once again the Geek Syndicate Network presents our annual array of panel games and silly banter. The First Lady of Scrolls starts things off with her version of Just A Minute, in which the contestants struggle to speak on a given topic without deviation, hesitation or repetition. Clover's subjects range from grumpy dragons to horny time-travellers, while the clock ticks ever downwards. You can practically hear the sweat.Next up is newcomer Tim Swann with Pointless, in which the contestants vie to find the most obscure but accurate answers. For folk unfamiliar with the quiz show, think Family Fortunes in reverse. Under the microscope are Firefly, Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. but what everybody really wants to know is how did Tim managed to split his brain in two?We follow up with chameleonic truths and outrageous lies as Dion chairs the classic game of Call My Bluff. Each contestant presents three definitions of a word or phrase related to film, tv, radio, book, comic, or game. Their opponents must ask them questions and try to work out the facts from the fibs. Technical difficulties hit us at this point, but we've preserved most of the show. Finally, Matt Farr (the otherwise genial Grampus) dons his alter-ego as Lord Alan Sidious, weeding out the wastrels in his sour-faced search for the next Sith Apprentice. The contestants each take on the role of a villain from anywhere in space and time, pitching their plans for domination to Lord Alan. Who will impress the Enterprising Emperor and who will be summarily executed? We lost Mr Ambler's game of Geeking Talk to gremlins, but two hours ought to be enough for you all.So, grab some nibbles, pop your party hat on and help us drain the last dregs of Christmas spirit as Dissecting Scrolls Solves Christmas![Musical snatches come from Eddie Reader's album The Songs Of Robert Burns. I think she's fab. You should buy all her stuff.]Stay In Touch. You can follow most of the contestants on Twitter under the following monikers @thegrampus @Dion_Scrolls @Phlambler @tetrarchangelWhat do Points make? Prizes!Sadly, we have no faith in our scoring systems, so the decision is YOURS. Tell us who you think THE WINNER is.You have until the end of January to get your votes in as to who is the Overall Winner. For impartiality, e-mail scrolls@hotmail.co.uk with the subject heading 'Dissecting Scrolls Champion.' Tell us who you think deserves the bragging rights, and why.A voter will be chosen at random to win a prize.Deadline is 11:59 GMT Jan 31st 2013.

After cutting through the swath of news stories and announcements, instead of being witty and making some Douglas Adams connection in this episode, your dauntless hosts are back at the New Adventure grindstone, and looking at the debut novel for some authors who you'll see crop up in Doctor Who circles for years to come. This week, Lucifer Rising by Andy Lane & Jim Mortimore is in the hot seat. There's misery and death to be had, as well as lots of continuity references...
"An eleven dimensional alien being."
