Podcastica Episode 243: Eve of the Daleks or We Are Not Nick
PodcasticaFriends! 2022 has already given us this little gem of an episode! That's right, we loved Eve of the Daleks! Though we have one minor nitpick, we were delighted by what Team TARDIS was able to do with a small cast, an enclosed set, and the old time loop trope! We got explosions, emotions, action, and the confirmation of the Thasmin Agenda! Let's grab a little bit of the leftover champers from NYE and dig into it!

GSN PODCAST: Grouchy Old Geeks - Episode 64
Geek SyndicateIn this episode we kick off with some a few pieces of news and then for our main feature we begin our search for the Golden Year. We are in a golden era of TV and film, but in the past, there were some incredible years where we had some of the best TV shows ever made, and some classic films that are still revered today. Steve and Scott present some of their ideas.

Review - Eve of the Daleks
It's a Happy New Year indeed as Phil and Paul get stuck in their own time loop as they watch the New Years Day special, Eve of the Daleks.
And wow, we actually got a decent Dalek story with good characters and dialogue and story that cracked along with everyone getting exterminated every 5 minutes! So sit back and listen to what the lads thought and also listen to them discussing Thasmin and the ups and downs of fans influencing production decisions.
And Scott also drops by and gives his thoughts on this years special!
Omega's Feedback Corner
Scott once again takes on reading duties as he reads out listener feedback received for Eve of the Daleks.

- We still have unresolved feelings about the Timeless Child
- Luke was told to search his feelings over 40 years ago
- Yaz, Dan & Eustacious Jericho were, in fact, travelling for *three* years
- Providing another great opening for Big Finish
- At the time of recording, 13 & Yazz only have three specials remaining: Eve of the Daleks, Legend of the Sea Devils & the unnamed special for the centenary of the BBC
- The YW loves modern day UNIT...

Episode 8 - The Daemons (with Simon Hart)
Doctor Who LiteratureThis week we're up to October 1974 and the first book of Target's last double-release month. The first of those two books is the novelization of "The Daemons", the Season 8 finale, and is written by the episode's producer and co-writer, Barry Letts. It's one of the longest novelizations Target will ever put out, and in the first half of this episode, we'll take a deep dive into just what Barry is able to do with all that extra space.
For the second half of the episode, we're joined by Simon Hart (@Si_Hart), a very prolific and very funny podcaster, who talks about how he first encountered this novelization, and how well it holds up today.
This week's outro music features two different versions of "Heart" from the Broadway musical "Damn Yankees", including selections from the 1958 movie adaptation and a 1969 episode of the Ed Sullivan Show.

TDP 1036: #DoctorWho 5TH DOCTOR - Lost Resort and other... from @Bigfinish
Tin Dog PodcastThe Lost Resort by AK Benedict (4 parts) Reunited with his companions, the Doctor’s plans to travel home to Gallifrey are cast aside when the TARDIS materialises on the Soresia: a planetoid with an unusual temporal atmosphere, home to the Welkin Sanatorium; seemingly an ideal place to recuperate. But the patients – like the Sanatorium – are mere shadows of their former selves. Decay has taken hold... yet their secrets remain as strong and healthy as ever. The Perils of Nellie Bly by Sarah Ward (2 parts) When the TARDIS crew arrive on the RMS Oceanic, they meet notorious journalist Nellie Bly on the final leg of her voyage to travel the world in less than eighty days. But with a saboteur on board, the Doctor and his friends must race to help Nellie reach her destination – and save her future. Nightmare of the Daleks by Martyn Waites (2 parts) Deep within a drilling rig on planet XB93, its crew has been suffering nightmares: dreams of cold, metallic creatures, stalking them through the base, killing them as they sleep. Fortunately for the crew, the Daleks’ own worst nightmare has just arrived – and he goes by the name of the Doctor.

42 to Doomsday - SHADA - A Review (from 1992!)
42 To DoomsdayTo celebrate the release of Season 17 on Blu-Ray which includes the 235th version of SHADA since it’s untimely(?) demise in 1979, Mark presents a soon to be award winning dramatisation / audio book / poorly impersonated reading of his then contemporary review of the J-N-T cobbled together version, which appeared in issue 73 of the Doctor Who Club of Victoria’s fanzine Sonic Screwdriver. An interesting footnote to this is that J-N-T did actually sell his memoirs to the Cardiff Pravda (a.k.a Doctor Who Magazine) after this ‘review’ was published! 42 TO DOOMSDAY WILL RETURN IN 2022!!

Loneliness is a Warm Gun
Doctor Who : The Sirens of AudioLoneliness is a Warm Gun
by Dwayne Bunney
This is a short story I originally started to write as a project for a creative writing evening class I was attending. At that time I had been quite obessed about the details surrounding the Port Arthur Massacre in 1998, and this story, in a way, was a result of my complete lack of comprehension of the crime.
I structured it deliberately in episodic form (3 parts), and when an opportunity came to pitch it to Big Finish, I inserted the characters of the 5th Doctor and Nyssa (who I swapped the original character "Mary" for). The Doctor Who version was never completed as a pitch only consists of a synopsis and 1 page of story.
But here is the original story without the Doctor Who elements. I hope you like it.
This also gives me the opportunity to change the title back to the name I originally intended, because when the text version was published, the publisher insisted on changing the name to Loneliness "OR" a Warm Gun. I was never happy with that. I'm big on story names and I had a very specific reason why I chose this one. Yes, I stole it from The Beatles.
