In the simpler days before the great "Time of the Doctor" schism of Christmas 2013, Josh, Ashley, and Rachel came together to record episode 84 of The Oncoming Storm. With the dream of a peaceful holiday ahead of them, they rejoiced in the season, and turned to talking about the final anniversary e-Books in front of the fireplace, where the stocking had been hung with care. Doctors 8 through 11 were discussed, with such topics as Martha's reading habits, hairy ceilings, and the dreaded 'Mary Sue' talked over at length. Oh, and Neil Gaiman.There were differences of opinion, but camaraderie abounded and a good time was had by all... Even when Ashley was wrong. Want to remember what that was like? Join us, won't you? The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got civil, level headed debate! About Doctor Who??? I know, Crazy right?!? 

It’s the second season of Smaller on the Outside already, and now we move right along to BBC’s Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The first episode, “Sherlock Ketchup 1″ covers the first season of the series and the three episodes (The Study in Pink; The Blind Banker; The Great Game).

It's Christmas season and that means cookies, trees, presents and best of all, a Doctor Who Christmas special. This week we discuss the 2013 Christmas Special "The Time of the Doctor".

Due to a mysterious truth field we can't lie about how bad Clara is at cooking a turkey and how much of a b*tch Linda is when giving dating advice (or talking in general). Gran is ready for a game of naked twister with the strange Swedish doctor she meets and Dave is on about pigeons again. Sounds about like an average Christmas dinner.

We are all sad to see Matt Smith depart and we're excited for the new season to start. Let's all checkout Christmas in July and enjoy our five minutes in the sun on this week's Playing Doctor SPOILERS episode.

The Fall of the Eleventh is at last upon us as Matt Smith took his final bow in the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special, "The Time of the Doctor". Crammed with all sorts of the Doctor's past enemies and a number of other surprises, the episode was topped off with a momentous performance from the outgoing Matt Smith. But what do the Three Who Rule think of this one? Did it pack enough emotional wallop after the spectacle that was the 50th anniversary? Did Matt Smith go out in a blaze of glory like Christopher Eccleston, or did he limp to the finish line like some (well, we) think David Tennant's Doctor did? Listen and find out. Oh, and Peter Capaldi is the Doctor now. We think this is a good thing, and it will make the wait for Capaldi's first proper outing as the Twelfth Doctor a very long one indeed...

Watching an "Adventure in Space and Time" got us hungry for smoking Cybermen, so we opened our freshly delivered packages from Amazon to watch and discuss "The Tenth Planet".

This is the one where Hartnell regenerates (oops, spoilers!) so keep your ears peeled for the sound of these old bodies saying what we think of it.  Also, I don't like your hair.  Also, some long-overdue feedback!

The Doctor Who 50th special had a couple of Doctors in it, which, you know, cool. It’s still a bit disappointing that the other nine (not counting the one we didn’t know about) were left high and proverbially dry. Enter Big Finish and their audio drama “The Light at the End.” Every other surviving Doctor, minus Eccleston, plus some very good voice doubles, gets together to tell a story without all those pesky visuals getting in the way. No matter how gray or round they might now be, it’s easy to imagine each Doctor in their prime. Well, maybe not so much Colin Baker, he sounds a bit jowly.
