It's another villaintastic episode of Verity! This time we're talking about machines--computers, robots, and androids who want to do very bad things. Join Deb, Erika, and Liz as we use "The Robots of Death" as a jumping-off point for our discussion. It's a great place to start, as it deals not only with robots themselves, but their integration into society. From there we jump to their integration into stories, and after that, we're all over the map: WOTAN! BOSS! Tara! Smilers! And much much more!

There's also a wee bit of irony at work in this ep. A technical issue prevented the excision of some coughing. (Deb had a cold.) This would be merely unfortunate, but it's catapulted into the realm of irony when Erika boasts of her cough-muting prowess...and then can't mute the coughs. Such hubris. Never tempt fate in front of the podcast gods. Lesson learned.

(That same technical issue accounts for the somewhat iffy sound quality in this ep. We thank you for your patience, and will try to have things back to normal next week!)

This month we present our first discussion of a novel by veteran Doctor Who author Simon Messingham, it’s The Face-Eater, a BBC Eighth Doctor Adventure featuring Sam and…well, the Eighth Doctor.  From the back cover:

The Doctor and Sam arrive on Proxima II, one of the earliest planets colonised in humanity’s first big push into space.  But instead of a brave new world, they find a settlement rife with superstition and unrest.

The native Proximans are inexplicably dying out.  Humans too are being killed in horrific ways, with each face being stripped bare.

Posing as investigators from Earth, the Doctor and Sam must track down the force moving through the dark catacombs beneath Proxima City.  It seems that the superstitious whisperings of the colonists may be well founded – that the sinister Face-Eater from Proximan mythology has awakened from its long sleep, to drive out all those who would defile its world…

The Series 8 news is slowly building as we hurtle towards August 23rd, the just-announced debut date for Peter Capaldi (aka P-Cap), the 12th (13th?) Doctor in a feature-length adventure called "Deep Breath". But mixed with excitement is disappointment for some fans, as there will be no San Diego Comic Con panel this year...which makes sense given Doctor Who is to be gallivanting around the globe shortly on a world tour of seven different cities on five continents. But all this is mere preparation for the return of Fluid Links, where we answer your questions about Doctor Who, nonsense, and Doctor Who nonsense! Which questions did we pick? Listen and find out!
