The Oncoming Storm Ep 173: NA #45 - Shakedown, The Imperium
The Oncoming StormAfter 173 episodes, The Oncoming Storm finally gets to go on it's shakedown cruise, ironing out all of the little things before they do this for real! No? Oh. We're sorry. No, still the same group of amateur know-it-alls. Well then, how about reviewing Shakedown instead? Yes, it's the novel of the film you've never heard of, now with added Doctor Who! And its the return of Uncle Terrance to the New Adventures. I'm sure Josh will be thrilled. Hopefully Ashley, Jeff, and returning goddess Rachel can keep him straight. And after that, the team looks at the crowd funded 1960's British pop culture inspired team up book, The Imperium. And promptly awkwardly start discussing the 2nd Doctor's sex life. It's relevant, if icky. The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got Ogrons, Sontarans, and Rutans, Oh My!

Episode 60: Invasion of the Cat-People
The Doctor Who Book Club PodcastWith Erik back, we turn once again to a book penned by Gary Russell, author of the Virgin Missing Adventure The Scales of Injustice and the BBC Past Doctor Adventure Business Unusual. This month, it's the Virgin Missing Adventure Invasion of the Cat-People, featuring the Second Doctor, Ben, and Polly. From the back cover:
'Explode the buoys? But that will destroy the earth!' 'Oh dear, so it will. Pass on my apologies to the humans, won't you?'
Earth has been invade. Twice. Thousands of years ago by a race searching for a new power source. More recently by the galactic marauders known as the Cat-People, who intend to continue the work done by the earlier visitors, with devastating results.
The recently regenerated Doctor, along with companions Ben and Polly, teams up with a group of amateur ghost-hunters and a mysterious white witch on a journey that takes them from twentieth-century Cumbria to the Arabian deserts of folklore and Australia 40,000 years in the past. Can the Doctor stop the invaders and disarm the bombs left buried beneath the planet's surface - or have the ancient Aborigines of Australia sung the seeds of their own destruction?
Is this book the cat's meow? Or does this story belong in the litter box? Listen in and find out as we retrace and review Invasion of the Cat-People!

Extra! - Day One, Chibnall-Style
Doctor Who: Verity!Time for another first-based Extra! (Which is sadly sans-Deb--damn real world!) Join Erika, Katrina, and Lynne as we talk about Chris Chibnall's first foray into the televised Doctor Who universe. It's not an ep of DW, however. The first he wrote was the second episode of Torchwood, "Day One". It's a solid start that gets the series rolling with lots of delicious character interaction and provides much-needed visibility for bisexual people. That's our story and we're sticking to it.
Have you seen "Day One"? Did you enjoy it as much as we did? Or is "camp-noir" not for you? Let us know in the comments!

Episode 279 - UNIT Dating Controversy - Solved?
Traveling the VortexIn this week’s show we tackle a subject that has sometimes caused great divides in Doctor Who fandom. A controversy so big, that some have chosen to sideline the debate altogether, just to avoid it. However, some cleaver writing has, perhaps solved the issue for good. We discuss the issue with a special guest, and continuity fix-it-man, Andy Frankham-Allen. He’s an author and the deputy editor of the Lethbridge-Stewart series at Candy Jar Books.
We’ll also review three short stories from Candy Jar, Lethbridge-Stewart: In His Kiss by Sue Hampton, Lethbridge-Stewart: The Black Eggs of Khufu by Tom Dexter, and Lethbridge-Stewart The Enfolded Time by Andy Frankham-Allen
Plus we address the news of the week.
And, of course, feedback.
Enjoy!

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 48, Ambassadors of Death Part 4
Doctor Who - The High CouncilAs we begin Ambassadors of Death Part 4 - Liz is in Trouble, Josh, Andrew, Steven and Toby are telling stories about Derek Martin, an uncredited member of HAVOC. While Andrew shows his moral duty, regarding the man's behavior, we quickly move onto the commentary. Why the tin foil walls and colorful wires connected to the wall? So you learn a little about explosions in enclosed areas, quick cuts, and the wonderful facial bandage that the Doctor sports for a few scenes afterwards. While we examine whether Doctor Taltalian has a French accent on film, we discuss the backdrop of people taking the mickey out of Doctor Who. That said, we are collectively affectionate about the show, and only make fun because we love it. So come join us, enjoy it affectionately, and still take the mickey out of Ambassadors of Death Part 4!

Episode 29: It Came From Uranus! - Doctor Who: Get Off My World!
Get Off My WorldIn Episode 29: It Came From Uranus, the guys tackle the epic 1965 William Hartnell adventure The Daleks' Master Plan! Their conversation - like the story - careens from bleak to ridiculous as they discuss companion deaths, Bing Crosby dressed as a clown, ethnic stereotypes, jungle planets, Egyptians with rocks, tragic endings and the unavoidable problem with the planet Uranus.

Radio Free Skaro #527 - The One With Big Ron
Radio Free SkaroAfter a banner week of...well, a new companion announcement and accompanying short, which counts for a lot in this, The Year of No Doctor Who, we're back to an absolutely desolate news list-ette with barely anything of consequence beyond an art show about Target Books. Which is admittedly pretty cool! And we've also put the Series 9 commentaries on the back burner, but only temporarily, because this week we have an interview with Peter Harness, writer of "The Zygon Invasion" and "The Zygon Inversion", and all around classy fella to boot! Listen and learn (about Zygons)!
