Escaping from the future, our heroes find themselves in the distant past... sort of. It’s 1953, but a very different 1953 from the one we’re used to. The UK has still not recovered from a second World War that lasted an extra year longer than in our history. The Americans had to step in to save the besieged country, dropping another Atom Bomb on Berlin. They are now running the grateful UK as if it is part of the US and are now expanding their empire against the growing might of the Soviet Union. The Time Barrier has been discovered and is being studied by a team of scientists, whilst strange items are being smuggled through from different time periods - weapons perhaps, traded with the future? Spivs and racketeers run the streets, and the US Government plan highways through time... And behind it all is a very familiar face.

(01:32:05) “Triangle” is a BBC Television soap opera broadcast in the early 1980s, set aboard a North Sea ferry which sailed from Felixstowe to Gothenburg and Gothenburg to Amsterdam. The show ran for three series before being cancelled, but is still generally remembered as “some of the most mockable British television ever produced”. The scripts involved clichéd relationships and stilted dialogue, making the show the butt of several jokes—particularly on Terry Wogan’s morning Radio 2 programme—which caused some embarrassment to the BBC.

So we’ve come to the end of our little journey, which means it’s time to jump back into the late 2000’s for some quality early 21st century television. But before that, we have to suffer through Pip and Jane Baker’s masterpiece. Some say it’s their greatest work, their magnum opus. It’s Time and the Rani, written by Pip and Jane Baker and aired between September 7th and 28th, 1987.

But first, leading off the podcast, Ben celebrates his team's, the Four-to-Zoomsday's, triumph in the Quiz of Rassilon. David then asks a simple question about a sporting metaphor and the two get mired the two get mired in cricket talk for a good five minutes. After that, the two discuss Churchill in light of statues coming down across the UK and the US; this part of the podcast was shunted off to the end of the podcast and begins after a musical interlude from Heathcliff Blair and begins at 34:34. (Think of it as studio floor Blu-ray extra footage.) Once that discussion runs it course, we talk about Tom Baker's tenure as the Doctor beginning 11:54 running through to the aforementioned musical interlude. All rather confusing isn't it. Oh, and we briefly mention the December 1981 interview of Tom with Mavis Nicholson which is definitely worth a watch. Anywho... we're back to season 13 next episode. Opening "Davros' Megalomania" and closing "The Doctor's Theme" music was composed by Dudley Simpson for season 12 stories and arranged and performed by Heathcliff Blair on the "Pyramids of Mars" disc.
