SHOWNOTES
(00:00:00) We open this podcast with a promo for our own Hayden’s spooky new horror novel “The Lurking”. Available at all surviving bookshops and online vendors such as these via these direct links: Amazon and Barnes & Noble and Booktopia and Waterstones.
Beginning with a four-issue limited series written by Eric Saward (Doctor Who) and featuring the mercenary Lytton (as portrayed by Gangster’s Maurice Colbourne), Cutaway Comics is also bringing you art from the UK’s hottest artists including Barry Renshaw (Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog).
There’s also a Kickstarter up and running to help fund the launch which can be found here.
Cutaway Comics is inspired by the so-called ‘backup’ stripes of Doctor Who Weekly, which delved deeper into the characters and cultures of the Doctor Who universe away from the Doctor. Stay tuned for some exciting and unprecedented explorations of the worlds of Doctor Who and beyond.
(00:48:50) This “Dalek Attack” commercial can be seen here.
(01:07:25) “A Critical History of Doctor Who on Television” by John Kenneth Muir.

#167 - The Talking Cabbage
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2A discussion about the Leela years in Doctor Who focusing in on Tom Baker and the behind-the-scenes change in the production office and how Leela's character's arc imploded in season 15, where ambition hit the hard wall of lack of money. Ben theorizes that K9 is the talking cabbage that Tom always wanted as a companion and may explain why he stayed on for season 16. While David wonders why Boucher and Holmes dropped Leela's "Pygmalion" storyline in their season 15 scripts. Opening and closing music is from "The Invasion of Time" soundtrack composed by the incredible Dudley Simpson. This episode was recorded 5 August 2020.

Review - The Mark of the Rani
This month, Phil and Paul did a foolish thing and picked The Mark of the Rani to read and watch. But was it foolish? In this often overlooked story, our reviewing duo find that there is actually quite a bit to enjoy. But was it overstuffed with too many villains? And would the story worked without a sci-fi slant? Listen to find out!

307: Decorative VeggieTales (Greeks Bearing Gifts)
Trust Your DoctorWe should’ve named our website that, what were we thinking?
Aw man I feel like I really missed out by never watching veggietales. I mean for real so many people seem to have considered it an integral part of their childhood. Everyone on the internet talks about it as if it was some sort of great revolution in childhood television and I’m over here having not watched it. Damn. It’s Greeks Bearing Gifts, written by and aired on November 26, 2006.

97.1 No Shame in Being the 25th Tallest Man
On the Time LashBen and Mark attempt to undo some bootstraps with a discussion of the second Series 9 two parter - Under the Lake/Before the Flood. Under discussion: Is there a link between the Fisher King and the Myrka? Is time travel really all that complex? Why Doctor Who can't do ghosts and whether base under siege stories light a fire beneath Peter Capaldi. Also: Being amongst the 25 tallest men, levels of fandom in guest actors and another of Mark's terrible Doctor Who anecdotes. If you enjoy the podcast, and would like to buy Ben and Mark a drink you can do so at buymeacoffee.com/onthetimelash or leave us a review at iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts

Episode 73: Beethoven Playing Brahms
Get Off My WorldIn Episode 73: Beethoven Playing Brahms, the guys talk about fans and showrunners, Charles Dickens, Columbo, Polka-Dot Man and various famous musicians, but mostly about the beginning of Jodie Whittaker’s second season: Spyfall parts 1 and 2, and Orphan 55.
As if that wasn’t enough, this episode was recorded live in January 2020 at CONsole Room, the Twin Cities’ premier Doctor Who convention, and so has exactly zero discussion of the coronavirus! Come join us in our simpler world!

But Rita Cooper wanted excitement... 2.4 Too Many Masters by John Dorney The Monk has captured Missy. And he will have his revenge... But the Ogrons are also looking to settle an old debt.
