Episode 204: The Creature from the Pit OR The Rantings of a Demented Space Tramp
PodcasticaWell, we're not quite in the pits over THE CREATURE FROM THE PIT. There were a few things we enjoyed about this 4th Doctor story, but overall the adventure fell a little flat with us, especially being the story that comes on the heels of the amazing City of Death. But, as always, we persevere and find the good within the not so good and let those bits shine for everyone. Join us as we open trade negotiations with THE CREATURE FROM THE PIT!

Fantastic! It's the Eccleston era!
The Doctor Who ShowEvery 12 months-ish, Rob and Dave look at an entire era of Doctor Who. Having done the Davison, Hartnell, and Pertwee eras in past episodes, the guys thought it was high time they did a Doctor from Nu-Who. But which Doctor...?
It didn't take long for them to decide on Christoper Eccleston.
Before then, the guys discuss the past month in Doctor Who which includes Peter Capaldi landing in the new Suicide Squad film; Brian Blessed talks about being offered the role of the Second Doctor; 'Time Fracture' - a new immersive Doctor Who experience is coming to London in 2021; and Fury from the Deep announced as the next DVD release.
Short topics include: a Twitter survey Dave conducted on Twitter about Turlough; new Character Options sets excite both Rob and Dave (but not the same sets!); and Rob finishes his collection of Second Doctor PDA novels.
Let us know your thoughts on Christopher Eccleston or anything else you like at hello@theDWshow.net

310: Topological Memessance (Out of Time)
Trust Your DoctorI met a mathematician once, but he didn’t want to talk about memes.
Sometimes I forget to edit everything, and then I realize that I too am out of time. Just like everyone in this episode. Can you imagine if one day I was editing, and I paused to go to the store and just teleported a million years into the future? What if I found out our podcast had suddenly become a smash cult hit in that time, that’d be super weird. It’s Out of Time, written by Catherine Tregenna and aired on December 17, 2006.
Show-notes:
1:45: Know Your Meme calls this Distracted Boyfriend.
28:00: If you want to listen to us doing what we’re doing here but for classic sci-fi shows like The Prisoner and Sapphire and Steel, check out our classic sci-fi podcast where we do what we’re doing here but for classic sci-fi shows like The Prisoner and Sapphire and Steel, Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast.
28:55: Apparently Amelia Earhart has never appeared in person on Doctor Who according to the Tardis Wiki.
59:03: They call it the Gimli Glider now.

On the Time LashBen and Mark continue their look at the price of immortality as they watch Douglas Adams' Doctor Who debut - The Pirate Planet! Under discussion: How far can/should you go when making a comedy about genocide? Tom Baker's top lip, the joys of the Doctor and Romana dynamic, shipping the Captain and Mr Fibuli and the daftness of a fight between a robot dog and robot parrot. Also: Shitting lasers, discarded jewels and Graham Williams in a dog suit.

During the events of , Liv Chenka left the Doctor and the TARDIS behind. Just for one year. A year during which she would live on Kaldor, and get to know her sister Tula all over again. But Kaldor is going through a period of tumultuous change. Technology is changing at an advanced rate - the robots are evolving, artificial intelligence is adapting, and with these changes so politics is altering too. Dangerously. Can Liv and Tula make a difference during the most turbulent time in the world’s history? 2.1 Robots of War by Roland Moore A visit to an old flame goes badly wrong for Liv and Tula and soon they find themselves locked down in a military training base, surrounded by traitors and robots designed and built for war. As they attempt to get everyone out alive, is there a chance they’ve missed something important? 2.2 Toos and Poul by Andrew Smith When a murder takes place in an isolated outpost, there’s only one man who can look into the crime. Investigator Poul, newly reunited with his Sandminer colleague Toos. But can he over-come his fears and prejudices and solve the case? 2.3 Do No Harm by Sarah Grochala After an incident in a laboratory leads to a tragedy, someone needs to be found accountable. And who better to be prosecuted than a robot? But when complicated ethical questions arise, the outcome of the trial becomes bigger than a single case. What if somebody else is working behind the scenes?
