Redux 13: Radically Unfair Trial (Timelash)
Trust Your DoctorWe’re beyond just regular unfair trials now.
Honestly in hindsight revisiting this was a mistake. This was a completely nonsense episode to revisit. And it wasn’t even good! Like it was just bad! And yet for some reason we say down like “yeah you know what episode I wanna revisit, Timelash.” Somebody get the TARDIS and slap past us. It’s Timelash, written by Glen McCoy and aired from March 2nd through 6th, 1985.
Show-notes:
0:15: I left it in.
0:45: Find out if we liked Timelash the first time by listening to our original episode.
2:55: We revisited Mindwarp before we started Torchwood.
5:00: The Airzone Solution. Stay tuned in the episode for where I (Dylan) somehow get convinced into watching this in two weeks time.
5:40: Here are some links to JB’s podcasts, namely Who 37 and Bat 77.
10:17: I (Kiyan) (re)read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells in the time since we recorded this episode and (re)found out that the morlocks are a reference to the something in the book.
15:28: We covered Dance of the Dead on our other podcast, Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast.
22:14: Check out Zenith: A Blake’s 7 Podcast, our Blake’s 7 podcast.
32:31: Here’s our episode on Blake’s 7’s City at the Edge of the World. This was all the way back in 2018. Man. Time flies.
33:15: The TARDIS wiki summary really does call Tekker “sycophantic”.
53:24: Here are the blog posts as promised: Sexism in the Time Machine and Bibliophilia: HG Wells Doesn’t Play Nice. Feel free to make your own determination.
57:28: The Bandrils really did say “screw this” and just invaded everyone.
1:08:01: Can’t believe we’ve mentioned and linked this article reporting that Christopher Eccleston said Doctor Who needs to explode the canon for 5,000 weeks in a row now.

Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, we’re joined by Jack Shanahan and Joe Ford to dicuss an episode where we discover that not only is the Doctor good at saving the world, he’s a useful striker, a reliable employee and a skilled matchmaker. And someone who looks good in a skimpy towel. It’s The Lodger.
Notes and links
Daisy Haggard created, co-wrote and starred in Back to Life (2019), a BBC comedy series about a woman who returns home to live with her parents after 17 years in jail. It features a hilarious comedy turn from our very own Jo Martin.
Fans of those rare moments when Brendan talks about how terrible something is will enjoy his discussion of Black Orchid in his video Doctor Who: My Bottom 5 Stories!. More of the same can be found in our very own Black Orchid episode, Episode 81: The Worst Lawn Party Ever.
The Lodger is based on a comic strip featuring The Tenth Doctor and Mickey Smith first published in April 2007 in Doctor Who Magazine issue 368.
Spaced (1999) was a comedy series starring amd written by our own Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg and directed by Edgar Wright. It was very clever and trope-aware, and if you can find it, we’re certain that you will enjoy it.
This story’s Emergency Crash Hologram is a loving tribute to or a blatant ripoff of Star Trek: Voyager’s Emergency Medical Hologram, wonderfully played by TV’s Robert Picardo and — delightfully — also known as the Doctor.
Gareth Roberts published an extract from his original script of this story, whose working title was Meglos 2 in Doctor Who Magazine issue 423.
And finally, Brendan talks about the lamentably unwatched Part 2 of Meglos in his YouTube series Say Something Nice.

Episode 43: Splendid Chapman
Something WhoOver a year after his previous visit to Something Who, here's another fantastic chat with the wonderful documentary film maker Chris Chapman about his contributions to the Doctor Who: The Collection Blu-ray sets.
I wanted to focus on how Chris uses his films to tell stories and to discuss the planning and editing processes as much as the actual filming, though naturally some of those stories come through too. We focus in this episode on Chris's new films for the Season 14 and Season 8 sets.
I think you'll be blown away by Chris's natural enthusiasm for his work, as well as his passion for the subjects of his films.
Don't worry that this is episode 43 and the last one was 41. It's all gone a little bit wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey on us, but 42 will be along soon and it'll be worth waiting for.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
Chris's work is all over the Doctor Who DVD and Blu-Ray ranges, and while the limited editions of the Blu-Rays can be hard to get hold of, they are slowly being re-issued and well worth the price of admission.
And if you can't get enough of Chris's work, you can also head over to https://www.bigfinish.com/, where he has written a number of audio plays.
The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 (off of An Unearthly Child) and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end

133: Education & Elves
Neither The Time Nor The SpaceMatt and David are off their game this week. Is it due to the unusally inclement weather for the time of year, a deep-rooted and ever-growing animosity between them, or merely the fact that they had to watch episode 1 of Class this week instead of proper Doctor Who? You decide, listeners...

42 to Doomsday - Collecting & COVID
42 To DoomsdayEpisode 92 - 2020 was a year like no other, and in this episode we are again joined by Aron Challinger, proprietor of Aron's Collectibles, to discuss the impact COVID 19 had on Doctor Who merchandising, particularly from a new series perspective. We find out what has (and what hasn't!) been flying off the shelves. We ponder the question: are manufacturers delaying new releases until changes are made to the series AND do fans really need to sell a kidney to own a complete set of Doctor Who WH Allen Hardbacks? All this plus is there any hope the situation will improve for the 60th anniversary? And once again, because Rob needs that Missing Episodes fix and we again venture down that rabbit hole to chew over the idea that the only way to reignite interest in the current series is the return missing story or three (*cough Marco Polo *cough)

Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Christopher Eccleston makes his Big Finish debut in the three-part anthology: Ravagers. We talk about his return as Doctor Who and review Sphere of Freedom, his first new story in more than fifteen years. There likely are spoilers, so listen to the story before this podcast! Opening music is from the audio drama composed by Howard Carter. Closing music is the Big Finish trailer for the Ninth Doctor adventures with music also by Howard Carter. 1.1 The TV Movie
Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthKenny and Becca are Doctor Who fans.
He's been a fan since 1978, and Becca was born in 1995, so their experiences of the show are completely different.
But something they both love is the Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann. In this podcast series, they will travel through time and space, finding the many different aspects of this incarnation of the Doctor who was only seen twice on TV - but has had more original adventures than virtually any other Doctor in different spin-off media.
So, get to know the pair of them, as Becca (in their podcast debut) and Kenny (editor of Big Finish's Vortex, and co-host of The Power of 3 podcast) crash land in San Francisco, on December 31, 1999... There's been a shooting - someone had better call a Doctor...

DIDDLY DUM PODCAST 147 – The Shelfless Society
Diddly Dum PodcastDuring Hayden’s paternity leave, former Diddly Dum host, Matt Charlton, has rallied to the colours for this episode and has chosen the Third Doctor story “Colony in Space” for us to review. Along the way, we reminisce about his era of the podcast (eps 028-059) when his side of episodes were often recorded from the top deck of a 192 bus, and his discovery that he’s distantly related to some stars of Doctor Who.
