  • The Others Episode 12 Earthshock Part One

    13 February 2017 (2:16am GMT)
Episode Duration: 55 minutes and 18 seconds

The Others have never shied away from a Cybermen episode and this is no different. As they take a look at the first two episodes of the Peter Davison story, Earthshock, they ponder the question of what moments in Doctor Who have been unexpected or shocking. The reason for this discussion stems from the fact the general public in the UK had no idea at the time the Cybermen were returning in this story; a secret kept to such an extent that JN-T even refused an opportunity for the Cybermen to be on the cover of the Radio Times. What other moments came as a completely shock?

  • The Others Episode 11 Revenge of the Cybermen Part Two

    27 May 2015 (3:00pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 51 minutes and 19 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

The Others take a look at the third & fourth parts of Revenge of the Cybermen. Lots of discussion about the production including a very apparent fondness for the cast of Season 12 of Doctor Who. Much time and debate is spent on how many times the Cybermen had appeared between The Invasion and Revenge of the Cybermen while enjoying a very lovely cabernet sauvignon. There is also a tepid Wookie impersonation at best plus The Others come up with a possible new way of defeating the Cybermen not yet seen in the series. Lots of memories as we look back at this Cybertastic Cyber-classic.

  • The Others Episode 10 Revenge of the Cybermen

    8 February 2015 (6:04pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 52 minutes and 24 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

The Others Episode 10. Revenge of the Cybermen.

Inspired by Revenge of the Cybermen to be the first story released on VHS, The Others takes this installment to talk about the evolution of the home video market from back in the day to present day. A lot of time is taken on reminiscing about collecting the stories on many varieties of formats both in PAL and NTSC. Don't be frightened, it is not a very technical conversation which is evident by the explanation of physically hacking a DVD player to play Region 2 DVDs in 2000.

Aided by a mediocre wine at best, this is the first installment of looking back at a story from Season 12 that is fondly remembered. Back in the day when it was okay for Cyberleaders to put their hands on their hips like they just don't care! We are The Others.

    25 July 2014 (12:47am GMT)
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 26 minutes and 15 seconds

Episode 9: An Adventure in Space and Time. The Others take a look at the wonderful docudrama that help to celebrate to the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. The Others take some time to discuss what is accurate and not accurate from the story plus marvel at the splendor of BBC Television Centre and Golden Bollocks. This episode includes such though-provoking discussions as David Bradley's age and whether Waris Hussein ended up getting in the elevator with the guy he fancied from BBC Television Centre Bar. This was recorded back in March and there was a problem with a fan running in the background which affected the recording. Sadly, it's only a minor occurrence and the conversation is still completely legible.

    3 July 2014 (3:11am GMT)
Episode Duration: 20 minutes and 51 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

The Others feels strongly about the spreading of information especially where missing episodes are concerned. There are people who take a lot of the information they are given at face value and they rely on these parties that give out this information to be as truthful as possible. In this episode, The Others give their opinion about how people on the Internet who have this influence on other people have a responsibility with what they are reporting. One member of The Others cites an example of this from a recent Facebook exchange he was a part of a little while ago. Every attempt has been made to represent this viewpoint in this podcast as fair as possible. Also, there is a round-up of facts on missing episodes. What do we really know vs. the un-researched to-good-to-be-true rumour of the day. We are open for sensible debate on this issue. For this episode, The Others wanted to have a readable transcript of this episode available at the time of posting by trying to hire someone to do it or find someplace online to create it. No luck in finding a suitable resource. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this cheaply, it would be appreciated.

  • The Others Episode 7 The Five Doctors Part One

    26 April 2014 (3:53pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 54 minutes and 21 seconds

The Five Doctors-Part One! To lose is to win and he who wins shall drink! For no apparent reason The Others have decided to look at one of their favourite stories, The Five Doctors. As they discuss in this first part covering Part One & Part Two, this story really hit a sweet spot with them. It has influenced the technology they buy and seems to be a story that has been watched multiple times. This is probably a statement that applies to many fans of Doctor Who!

They discuss when this story was shown on PBS and how it was made available to multiple markets in the US on the anniversary date of November 23rd, 1983. It is an interesting discussion spanning various discussions about viewing habits, beta tapes, bowling and Totinos pizza. There is also discussion about what an older Doctor is like when they come back to a series that is no longer their show. What part of their character is resurrected in an anniversary adventure like this? It's lovely and fun discussion that is not to be missed. Although not strictly a commentary, The Five Doctors is played in the background while the discussion is going on. The episodic version of The Five Doctors was used for this recording. We are The Others.

Episode Duration: 51 minutes and 26 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

Rose: It's been nine years! Longtime fans of Doctor Who were given incredible news in September 2003 that our favourite series was coming back to BBC 1. At the moment very few fans could have possibly been able to conceive how successful the series would come after its return. It wasn't a slow burn either. It was hugely successful right out of the gates. Now, four Doctors later and truly a worldwide phenomenon, The Others look back on the story that re-launched this legend in a whole new direction. Nine years ago we first met the girl who worked in a shop and would soon embark on a trip of a lifetime.

We look back at Rose. Not just the story but the character. As life-long fans of the series, we reminisce about how we were able to see the story early but also our initial thoughts at the time and how we loved every minute of it. We are The Others. Fantastic!

The Others Podcast is made up of the forgotten Omega Podcast team - they record podcasts NOT in the Name of the Omega Podcast but in the name of peace and sanity!! Made up of the likes of Bill Evenson, Robert Franks, Jeff Ovik and loosely moderated by Greg Bakun this is a very casual round table discussion. The discussion is a loose live commentary on The Name of the Doctor and the conversation moves to the overall Moffat era, the 50th Anniversary, River Song and wine. This podcast could easily be perceived as negative but these are very blunt, truthful and possibly outspoken views about a program these people truly love.

There is a lot of laughing, fun topics and general silliness by a group of friends who wanted to record their thoughts and reactions on the finale to Series 7b and the state of the series as they see it. There may be possible spoilers to the 50th anniversary special but nothing that hasn't been reported in the British tabloids. If you hear liquid spilling, do not be afraid it is just someone filling up their glass with wine.
