Ok, NOW our Canada Day mini-marathon concludes! Erika and Steven complete the last episode in the Verity Lambert era, the unique-in-many-ways “Mission to the Unknown”.

We watched an animated version of this “Dalek Cutaway” (no, it’s not really called that), which was really fab. Erika felt as much tension watching the animated characters as she has with many live actors. It cooked along and I could tell what was happening!

Our Canada Day mini-marathon continues as Erika and Steven press on with more Doctor Who from 1965. And one episode is actually made up of moving pictures!

Happy Canada Day everyone! Steven and Erika get back to 1965 Doctor Who with the first (mostly non-existent) episode of “Galaxy Four”. A Canada Day mini-marathon has apparently become a tradition. We’re good with that.

Welcome back gentle listener! We've been teasing it for the last several shows, and now the era of Host's Audio Choice begins! Well, kinda. The Oncoming Storm episode 177 does see Josh, Ashley, and Rachel here to kick things off, but because of various scheduling changes and snafus, Jeff is unable to share his choice this week. But that's okay, because we filled up two hours talking about the 3 selections we do have as it is! First up is Ashley's choice, The Rocket Men, by John Dorney. This companion chronicle sees Ian face off against the dastardly Rocket Men, and face a personal revelation that's been a long time coming! Then it's off to Red Rocket Rising, as Lucie Miller joins the TARDIS in Rachel's pick, Blood of the Daleks part 1, by Steve Lyons. And finally, Josh brings us Sympathy for the Devil, the Doctor Who Unbound story that asks, "What if the Doctor didn't become UNIT's Scientific Advisor. It also features the talent of a few gentlemen by the name of David Warner, Nicolas Courtney, and David Tennant! The Oncoming Storm... this time, we've got no news! No appetizer needed this time around!

News is picking up a little plus we have some cool merch stuff to talk through before we plough onto our review episode The Long Game.

The News

US online retailer Hot Topic has won the LIMA (International Licensing Industry Merchandiser’s Association) Award for the second time since 2014. Ladies, if you’re after some swanky DW clothing, this is where you want to go.

A great sounding new Titan comic run is starting this Wednesday 6th July. Titled Supremacy of the Cybermen it’s a big cross over story featuring the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Doctor’s and their companions, phew. It ties in nicely with both the Cybermen’s 50th anniversary and Titan’s Doctor Who Comics Day which takes place a few days later on the 9th July. Now would be a good time to dip your toe into the Titan comics.

The Doctor Who Magazine shows no signs of slowing down after its amazing 500th issue celebrations last month. Issue 501 is dedicated to Tom Baker and includes seven interviews packed with great insight into the man himself. Another month and another must pick up issue.

If you’re into your large hardback coffee table DW books then Doctor Who: The Whoniverse will be up your street. Coming out this October it features loads of information on human kind’s history within the DW universe, the birth of the Time Lords and lots more.

“The Long Game” Review

Eccleston’s series one is strong overall and you know we’re big fans at the BBB but The Long Game is one that’s often glossed over. Do we find good reason and agree with that or is it one of those hidden gems that deserves much more?
