Books! We are exploring yet another new medium. This time it is a novel from the Missing Adventures of the Doctor published originally in 1996 by Virgin. The Doctor, Romana, and K-9 arrive in London in 1930 during a heat wave and a time vortex has been hijacked (along with a few bodies of local Englishmen) by an alien menace. It reads like an Agatha Christie novel. The characters are straight out of Noel Coward, and it's a jolly good romp. As usual, we take a few sidetracks that are relevant to us and we talk about next week's Doctor Who Convention, ReGeneration Con!

Not enough, some might say, for this is Castrovalva - where Master Waterhouse introduces the innocent and unsuspecting viewer to "Little Matthew"

.

But that's not the only harrowing element of the Fifth Doctor's first outing. The Time Lord himself is made incompetent (and incontinent?) by his regeneration but still gets to go on a self-propelling wheelchair and pulls off decent impressions of his former selves - and Basil Fawlty (the War Hotelier).

Tegan gets hot and bothered, Nyssa gets moist and, of course, Adric has a semi on, before they all meet Chardonnay Shardovan and his sheep-in-wolf's-clothing chums.

There's a fly in the ointment, of course, and this one has a risible, raisable platform, a double-decker perspex top hat and a penchant for looking at boys on the dark web.

But does the new Doctor bowl Jim and Martin over? Or is he out first ball?

However, the lads plough through and are pleased to note that there is feline action along with plenty of sewer action. And Paul cannot get Brian Glover out of his mind.

And in the news this week, a new series 10 trailer, Mondasian Cybermen return in series 10 and Phil and Paul come up with a theory as to when Peter Capaldi will actually leave Doctor Who.

Previously GoG was called Comic Book Outsiders, and we’ve been podcasting for 9 years. We decided a rebrand and refresh was in order to reflect how the show has changed over the years.

No sooner did we joke about Mondasian Cybermen in Series 10 than they magically appear in a publicity shot with one Peter Capaldi! While we'd like to claim prophetic wisdom in this matter, we had no inside knowledge and this was likely a "going out in style" wish from one Mr. Capaldi, and we are all the better for it. P-Cap will also be gracing the small, inconsequential town of Calgary, AB for Calgary Expo at the end of April, to the delight of bouffant enthusiasts across the Canadian prairies! And in other good news, we have two interviews to round out our Gallifrey coverage, one with the voice of the Daleks, Cybermen (plus many others) and Big Finish man about town Nicholas Briggs, and the other with writer, director, actor and Dalek operator Nicholas Pegg! Do we have the right? Of course we do!

Way back in Episode 17, we covered "The Power of the Daleks" and proclaimed that this was the serial to find if there ever was one to be found. Seven years later, it still hasn't been found, but the fine folks at the BBC Worldwide slaved over a hot desk for a very long time to animate all six episodes of Patrick Troughton's first story.

That gave us the perfect opportunity to watch the story in its new incarnation, and decide whether animation is the gateway to a new era of Doctor Who or if we should just hold on to those CDs of "Marco Polo" and "The Savages" we've had for years. So, without further ado, listen in as we discuss the merits of "The Power of the Daleks"!
