Richard makes a triumphant return to the podcast just in time for the start of the Sylvester McCoy era. And the Rani's back too, cosplaying as Brendan for some reason. It's Time and the Rani.

So free will is not an illusion after all

Every time we turn around it's election season, and here at Flight Through Entirety, things are no different. This time we want you to vote for a Peter Davison story for our upcoming commentary podcast, scheduled for release after we finish Season 25.

    Your chosen story *

Thank you for your vote. (Unless you voted for Arc of Infinity, of course, in which case Todd is now extremely angry with you.) We will be announcing the outcome of the vote at the end of our Tom Baker commentary podcast in a few weeks' time.)

    Buy the story!

Time and the Rani was released on DVD in 2010/20111. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK)

Philip Sandifer has posted a video blog in which he explains why he thinks the visual style of this story is a vast improvement. Scroll to the bottom of his discussion of this story, or, better still, read the whole thing.

Fans of terrible dialogue and refreshingly simplistic plots will also enjoy Pip and Jane's episode of Space: 1999, which is called A Matter of Balance. (That's a link to the actual episode, by the way, so click carefully.)

The story of King Solomon's wisdom can be found in 1 Kings 3:16-28.

Mrs Malaprop was a hilarious comedy aunt from Sheridan's play The Rivals (1775), famous for continually choosing the wrong word; despite that, she was the very pineapple of politeness.

Brendan's quixotic quest to read every original Doctor Who novel is insightfully and entertainingly chronicled on his blog, The Doctor Who Reader.

    Follow us!

Brendan is on Twitter as @critiqaltheory, Nathan is @nathanbottomley, Todd is @toddbeilby and Richard is @RichardLStone. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the logo was designed by Anthony Wells. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast. And more surprising and completely reliable information about the show can be found at @FTEwhofacts.

We're also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or before you know it Brendan will be cosplaying as you and trying to deceive all your closest friends.

    Bondfinger

Over on Bondfinger, we've just recorded a new commentary on the second Pierce Brosnan film, Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). We'll be releasing that this week. In meantime, feel free to enjoy more of Pierce in our commentary on GoldenEye (1995).

Of course, you can still catch our commentaries on both films of the Timothy Dalton era.

We also have plenty of Rodgecasts online, and there are other Bonds available, as well. You can keep up with all the Bondfinger news on Twitter and Facebook.

    16:24 (GMT) - 24 Jun 2017

What you are about to hear is the story of a connection, a connection that was made between a television series and a viewer's life.

The You and Who books are the story of that connection, as told by the people who watch the programmes that make us come alive. Chiefly, of course, Doctor Who.

This podcast will relate some of the stories from those books... and beyond.

    In this episode:

Me and Who: A tale of the Radio Times Special, cassettes and Paris by Miles Northcott
Douglas finds the target: The Kamikaze sketch from The Burkiss Way by Stephen Hatcher

With an intermission featuring Rob Irwin talking to JR Southall.

The You and Who books, from which all royalties are paid to charity, are available in print and for Kindle, from watchingbooks.weebly.com

“Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,

Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,

Let PC McGarry wear black cotton gloves.”

The Whoseum is in deepest mourning this week for the loss of that titan of our childhood, Brian Cant. Nevertheless, Series 10 continue apace and reviews of “Empress of Mars” and “The Eaters of Light” are called for.

Along the way, Allan relates the history of Half Man Half Biscuit, Doc reveals the shocking truth behind his academic record, Mark recalls a curious meeting in a Kentish pub, and we reveal the truth about “Zulu”.

We can't believe series 10 is almost up! Does this week's ep review take out mind off that? We'll see but first...

    The News

Doctor Who Adventures "pauses" publication, some Who actors have been honoured by the Queen, Delia Derbyshire gets honoured with a blue plaque and we talk the __Empress of Mars_ ratings.

    Merch Corner

Sir David Jacobi is returning as The Master for Big Finish, a new Clara Pop! Funko is coming as a SDCC exclusive, a new book, Doctor Who Tales of Horror will be out in time for Halloween, Titan announce the new Partners in Time collection and the Who/Mr. Men mashup continues with a 10th Doctor book coming this Christmas.

    "The Eaters of Light" Review

Death by Scotland! It's certainly a hostile place for our Tardis Team this week but what's with the music? Romans, Barbarians, scary monsters and crows. Some good ingredients but is it enough for a solid story or do we feel like it's a bit... cold?

Thank you for listening and sending us your reviews. Next week it's World Enough and Time which sounds intriguing so get your reviews in for that. Until then have a great week and remember - Allons-y!

In which the monster of the week is all the rave. Trust us, it will make sense later.

This week, Danica and Brandon are proud to have Kat from Verity! on the show to discuss what happened on "The Eaters of the Light". There's a whole lot involving noodle rave monsters and Romans and the Scottish and sexuality and bullshit with Missy. It's a bit bonkers, but a lot of fun, honestly.

The Eaters of Light" is the tenth episode of the tenth series of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It is written by Rona Munro and was broadcast on 17 June 2017 on BBC One. "The Eaters of Light" sees the return of a writer from the classic era of the programme, making her the only writer to date to have worked on the classic and revived eras of the show; the episode received mixed reviews from television critics. The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) takes Bill (Pearl Mackie) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) to the Scotland in the second century to settle their different theories about what happened to the ninth legion of the Roman army that vanished. When they arrive, however, they find an alien menace from another dimension that may be the reason behind the vanishing, but is a far greater threat than any army.
