Drunken Time Travel
Description:
A three-weekly Podcast about Doctor Who. Starting from the very first story, each one is reviewed with the intention of using comedy whilst utilising alcohol as an aid. Due to the consumption of alcohol, there may be the occasional swear word. Please visit the website for previous episodes and the full feed as our iTunes feed limits us to approximately the last ten episodes.

In aid of The Hunger Project, we present to you a mini Xmas special episode covering the comic strip ‘A Christmas Story’ from 1965’s TV Comic.

Cast Aid is a collective of podcasters helping to end world hunger through music (or something vaguely resembling it). Inspired by the efforts of Bob Geldoff and Midge Ure in the 1980's, we're creating a supergroup of podcasters creating alternate, geeky, and parody versions of classic Holiday tunes. All these tracks are available for free or donation. All proceeds will go to charity The Hunger Project, in the spirit of the original Band Aid's message.

Episode Duration: 19 minutes and 47 seconds

DTT309DrunkenScienceCover.jpg With this week's episode The Savages being obsessed with their light guns, English Gav takes a look at what light is and its history in science. Links DTT 3.09 - Drunken Science (alternate mp3 download) Cover: NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center This video takes SDO images and applies additional processing to enhance the structures visible. While there is no scientific value to this processing, it does result in a beautiful, new way of looking at the sun. The original frames are in the 171 Angstrom wavelength of extreme ultraviolet. This wavelength shows plasma in the solar atmosphere, called the corona, that is around 600,000 Kelvin. The loops represent plasma held in place by magnetic fields. They are concentrated in "active regions" where the magnetic fields are the strongest. These active regions usually appear in visible light as sunspots. The events in this video represent 24 hours of activity on September 25, 2011.

Episode Duration: 38 minutes and 50 seconds

The cover this week comes courtesy of show host @irishgavbrown DTT309Cover.jpg First Doctor, Steven, and Dodo

Listen this week to find out if English Gav has been replaced by Robogav as we talk about Sci-Fi Conventions, killing Steven, and Mind Swapping.

When the TARDIS materialises on an alien planet, the Doctor insists that he and his companions have arrived in the far future. Steven and Dodo think otherwise, however, after they encounter a band of cave-dwelling primitives who are terrified of strangers. The travellers soon discover that the planet's population is divided into two castes, and that the professed idyll of the Elders - who inhabit a technologically advanced city - seems oddly dependent upon the unsophisticated savages.

Tombstone, Arizona, 1881. The air is filled with the sounds of shooting, cussing, and toe-tapping tunes knocked out on the battered piano at the Last Chance Saloon. And then there is something less familiar: the wheezing, groaning sound of a Police Box materialising. The Doctor and his companions aren't the only newcomers in town. The Clanton brothers have ridden in to settle a grudge with Doc Holliday, the notorious gambler, drinker, and dentist. In the Wild West, tempers are short, guns are swift...
