  • Who's He? Podcast #107 Beneath the strains of time

Episode Duration: 57 minutes and 59 seconds

This is it, the series finale of series 7b of Doctor Who, The Name of The Doctor and Phil & Paul aren't completely in agreement!  Paul struggles to find the story in this episode whilst Phil just likes it for what it is.  But one this is for sure though, they both agree that seeing past Doctors was marvelous and as for John Hurt?  Listen to find out!

And in the news this week, Steven Moffat thanks the fans for keeping their gobs shut after BBC America released the series 7b blu-ray boxset a week early, series 8 has been confrmed by the BBC, the sad passing of Doctor Who actors and crew during the week and in Omega's Tat Corner, some tat has been released that absolutely no-one was crying out for!!

  • Who's He? Podcast #106 A show with everything but Yul Brynner

    12 May 2013 (1:46pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 49 minutes and 39 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

The lads get their teeth into Neil Gaimans highly anticipated story, Nightmare In Silver, that promised to make the Cybermen scary again.  Well, that is certainly a bold claim and not one that goes unchallenged!  Oh no, Phil and Paul have differing views on this weeks episode which leads to Phil having an internal struggle before the leprechaun on his shoulder tells him to burn stuff, while Paul does his best to change Phil's mind only to fail miserably.  Phil also takes a moment this week to think of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine.  A very long moment in fact.  There is also a lot of talk about fanwank that could lead to blindness and they also briefly talk about She Said, He Said, the epilogue (yes, epilogue!) to The Name of The Doctor.

And in this weeks news, in the absence of any overnight viewing figures for Nightmare In Silver they make some up instead, news on showings for the blu-ray editions of the Peter Cushing Dalek films and in 50th Anniversary news, a photo of Matt Smith that has set tongues wagging and John Hurt lets the cat out of the bag which Phil and Paul talk about.  Sort of.

  • Who's He? Podcast #105 The rusted chains of prison moons

    6 May 2013 (8:12pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 56 minutes and 32 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week the lads turn their attention to the Mark Gatiss story The Crimson Horror, the latest in this series of Doctor Who.  What will they make of this Victorian romp in deepest, darkest Yorkshire with corpses in the canal and the return of the Paternoster Gang?  One thing is for sure though, Paul is Mister Grumpy this week which makes a nice change from Phil!

And in the news this week, a brief summing up of the Who's He? Podcast's trip to the BFI to see The Caves of Androzani, the UK's Doctor Who DVD roster for the remainder of the year, the return of Omega's Tat Corner and a chance for Phil to let rip on those who think fans are being short changed with their percieved lack of Doctor Who content for the 50th Anniversary.

  • #104 Trying to make some sense of it all

    28 April 2013 (8:51am GMT)
Episode Duration: 49 minutes and 49 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week the lads turn their attention to the eagerly anticipated story Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS.  After the last two weeks of enjoyment for Phil and Paul, I'm afraid to say this week is a bit of a let down. No, they are not best pleased with this trip inside Sexy and at times get quite animated at this fun but rather disappointing story.  But what did please them and what did annoy them?  Listen and find out to this episode that will most probably ostracise them from fandom!!

And in the news week, some DVD news including one DVD that nearly made it's way into Omega's Tat Corner, the next in the Destiny Of the Doctor range from AudioGo and of course the return of Omega's Tat Corner with a book that will delight Doctor Who geeks everywhere.

  • #103 Hearing them, seeing them

    21 April 2013 (5:21pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 48 minutes and 59 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week Paul & Phil continue with their look at this series of Doctor Who by discussing the creepy and spooky Hide written by Neil Cross whilst cowering behind their cushions.  Was this an improvement on his previous script or was it a bit of a clunker?  Will the lads give another unanimous thumbs up to an episode of Doctor Who two weeks on the bounce or will they revert to type and give it the thumbs down?  Also listen to Paul & Phil travel back to the 1960's where a man could "provide" for a lady whilst wearing his finest tweed.

And in the news this week, they catch up on viewing stats (the most popular part of the show), DVD news on The Ice Warriors and a brief discussion on the release of the posters for the upcoming episodes of this series, including the title of the last episode which has made fandom explode.  Again.

And in the news this week, Sylvester McCoy rules out the return of any of the classic series Doctors for the 50th Anniversary special, some more casting news for the 50th, a return to the anti matter universe of Omega's Tat Corner and Phil gets mad (don't get mad Phil, get even!) with the spoiler images posted on Twitter this week from the filming of the 50th special.

Episode Duration: 39 minutes and 59 seconds

After last weeks disappointing outing for the Doctor, Phil and a returning Paul turn their attentions to the latest episode The Rings of Akhaten.  Is this episode an improvement on last weeks or is it just another crushing disappointment?  Listen to find out if this podcast is just another hatred and bile filled episode or full of wonder and delight.  But during the course of this episode Phil makes up a new word and offers up his pen to Grandfather.  Paul looks on and shakes his head in bemusement.

And in the news this week, Christopher Eccleston on joining the 50th Anniversary special, Christopher Eccleston not joing the 50th Anniversary special, the return of the Zygons and the BFI's attempts at a more fair approach to allocating tickets to their 50th Anniversary events.

New Doctor Who to review!  Hoorah??  This week Phil is joined once again by Martyn Havell from the Bad Wilf Podcast to review the opening episode of series 7 part 2, The Bells of Saint John.  While the pair of them are pleased Doctor Who has returned, neither of them are particuarly pleased with this story.  Oh no, they are not pleased with recycled ideas and plot holes you could ride a bike through, so tune in to find out just how displeased they were!! Mind you, it wouldn't be the Who's He? Podcast if there wasn't a certain amount of negativity now would it?

And in the news this week, David Tennant and Billie Piper to return to Doctor Who for the 50th Anniversary and in an exclusive for the Who's He? Podcast we announce today of all days that Paul McGann will return for the 50th in a new idea for the show - degeneration!!  Also the BBC announces they are cancelling the sequels to the Doctor Who console game The Eternity Clock.

Episode Duration: 33 minutes and 58 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week, Paul & Phil review the latest in the Destiny of The Doctor audio stories, Vengeance Of The Stones featuring the 3rd Doctor.  Does this story follow up on the brilliance of Shadow of Death or does it cause Phil and Paul to disagree for the first time in ages?  Listen to find out but be warned: Scottish stereotypes are discussed and the word "stones" is used with wanton abandon!

And in the news this week, the air time and a prologue (I refuse to call it a prequel!) for The Bells of Saint John is revealed to waiting fans, filming for the 50th Anniversary special has been pushed back, the tabloids start their typical rumours that Matt Smith is leaving, Peter Jackson will direct an episode of Doctor Who if Steven Moffat gives him a Dalek and in Omega's Tat Corner they return to a piece of tat that they discussed a few episodes back.  Blimey, that could've been explained better.  Why didn't I put "previously on Omega's Tat Corner" instead?  Really need to get a proof reader for this rubbish.

It's time for an audio commentary!!  This month, the lads have chosen a short story for your delectation in the form of Black Orchid.  During the course of this story, Phil, Paul & Tony stop to marvel at the cricketing prowess of Peter Davison and also gaze in wonder at the seemingly never ending appetite of the gluttonous Adric.
And in the news this week, The Caves of Androzani is the next to be shown at the BFI Doctor Who 50 season, Caroline Skinner to leave Doctor Who, DVD updates for Inferno Special Edition and the Mind of Evil and the next in the Destiny of The Doctor series.

And in the news this week, there is plenty of update on the Mark Gatiss drama An Adventure in Space and Time, news of series 8 straight from the mouth of Steven Moffatt and in Omega's Tat Corner, Paul's lonely existence is called into question with his methods of seduction.

It's the first audio commentary of the year, so that means once again Tony returns to the fold to join Phil and Paul in getting through Destiny of The Daleks episodes 1 & 2. This one is a real struggle folks. The lads do their best to keep their spirits up in this shoddy story of run down Daleks, Stevie Wonder disco wigs and ill fitting Davros masks but try as they might, this one gets the better of them! Tony tries desperately to inject humour into the proceedings with his facts but these fall flat in the face of this dreadful story!

And in the news this week, the January releases from Big Finish, news of an actor who would like to return to Doctor Who and one actress who isn't and return to Omegas Tat Corner with some over priced glittery tat that wouldn't look out of place on QVC.

What's in store for you all this week? Well folks, it's the same as last week, awful puns, Tony's facts and long bouts of silence. But when Paul finally shows up, they get stuck into another audio story, The Ghosts of N-Space, a story so convoluted and filled with ethnic stereotypes, Paul can't help but have a Dolmio day, whilst Phil lets rip with his best Sandra Dickinson impression. Still they have a good time even if no-one else does. Now, you can put the dinner on, I'll be home in 20 minutes.

It's audio commentary time and this month it's the turn of Paul McGann in Doctor Who: The Movie. However, Tony was late to the recording as he hadn't had his dinner (and you don't want to be in the same room as Tony when he's hungry) so Paul and Phil cracked on with the news without him, which took all of 5 minutes as it was a very slow week for news.
Eventually Tony turned up and they got on with the task in hand. In this episode, you will find Smurfs, little known facts about Paul McGann, Popeye The Sailor Man and the hazards of transporting free range chickens.

In this weeks episode, the reviewing partnership of Phil & Paul take a look back at the ...ahem...well regarded series 4 story The Doctors Daughter. OK, I can't keep up the pretence any longer, it's probably one of the least well regarded stories in this series and Paul & Phil do little to change anyones opinion. But they go through the motions and try as they might, they can't help but be nothing but critical of this story, so don't expect many laughs this week!! However, after much analysis, they reach the conclusion that the only thing that thing that could have saved this story is......WILLIAM SHATNER!!
