Deadly divas, anyone? This week our villainous discussion centers on the ladies. For a change, we have a jumping off point--and it's VAM! (That's "value-added material", as in DVD extras.) Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we discuss one of the extras on the Shada DVD set. (Spoiler: We're much more excited about this one than the last one we talked about.) What does it mean to be a diva? Do all the female baddies on the show (and included the extra) qualify? Our discussion ranges beyond "Those Deadly Divas", so if you haven't seen it, don't fear, there's plenty here for you too. Add our "happy-Who-things", plus a special announcement, and you've got yourself a rollicking episode of Verity!

Oh, and shout-out to the iTunes review that inspired this week's title.

    9 April 2014 (12:30pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 2 minutes and 13 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week we cover what are some of the trickiest of the villains the Doctor has faced (one who even wears his face)! Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne as we try to stay on topic talking about shapeshifters. What is it about them that's scary? Do they hold the same appeal for all of us? Is a talking cactus a more or less believable shapeshifter than a mostly-non-functioning robot?

    2 April 2014 (12:30pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 28 minutes and 33 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week's Extra is somewhat melancholy. Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, Liz, and Lynne as we remember the Rani and pay tribute to the contribution of the late Kate O'Mara. Cold, sharp, stylish, snarky, and oh-so-delightful, the Rani is one of the Verities' most beloved Gallifreyan villains. Why do we love her? What made her special? Can/should the Rani return in another guise?

Episode Duration: 1 hour, 20 minutes and 16 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

You had to know we'd get here sooner or later. How could one of the most iconic villain races in Doctor Who not rate their own episode? Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne as we talk about the troublesome tin men. From their humble origins to their totally-different new-series origins, we touch on all the bits that make the Cyber race so fascinating to us. We may not all be "TeamCybermen" like Deb is, but they definitely have a place in each of our hearts. We even (surprise, surprise) mention Big Finish a few times, and Lynne's husband Michael makes an accidental surprise appearance talking about a subject that's very important to...well...some of us.

Erika accidentally touched off a twitter firestorm about where to shelve one's Doctor Who DVDs: Shelf Wars!

    Deb
    loves Clara's trousers!
is impressed by Toby Hadoke's interview with Russell T. Davis on ep 50 of Who's Round!

Steven Moffat is often praised for his ability to take perfectly normal everyday things and make them terrifying, but Doctor Who has a long history of such antics. Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Lynne as we chat about lots of mundane items we now give the side-eye, thanks to our beloved show. From angels to dolls to plastic policemen to telephones, the world is a scary place. Thanks Doctor Who!

And in a strange bit of synchronicity, Deb tries to remember the title of a book she read as a youngster. After recording, she looked it up and discovered it was Mutant 59: The Plastic Eaters, by Kit Pedlar and Gerry Davis--the creators of her beloved Cybermen!

Last, but certainly not least, we do our first Verity! giveaway, courtesy of Paul Cornell! Leave us a comment [on our website] to enter to win a signed copy of The Girl Who Loved Doctor Who! (We'll contact you via the email address used to leave the comment, so make sure it's a legit addy.)

    12 February 2014 (1:30pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 1 hour, 21 minutes and 31 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

This week’s villains hail from the Doctor’s very own planet, Gallifrey. Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy as we talk about various Time Lord evildoers. Why are so many of the renegades so evil? Is it something about Time Lord society? The fact that they make their children stare into the abyss? Who’s the worst of the lot? Who’s the most interesting?

There’s a lot to cover here, especially since we spend some time oohing and aahing over the 12th Doctor’s costume before we get on with things. You’ll note that we don’t talk too much about the Master or the Rani. That’s ‘cause we’ve covered both of those fine miscreants in previous episodes. Do dip back and take a listen if you haven’t already!

This week's episode feels more reverent than most, which seems fitting, given the subject matter.
